The best year ever – (Chapter: Reasons)

    “What was that Ash?”

“I’m playing at the House of Blues on Saturday night.  They’re having an amateur contest and the winner gets a chance at a record deal with Tower Records.  This is going to be excellent Spence…you HAVE to come…”

    “Saturday night Ash?”

    “Yeah this Saturday.”

Spencer looked at Ashley and sighed softly.  This weekend she was supposed to go to with Clay and Glen to visit their mom who had moved down to San Diego a few weeks ago.  They were going to spend the weekend with her and help her move some last minute things.  She had told Ashley this weeks ago…and she was almost positive that in all of her excitement Ashley forgot.  Time for a little damage control.

“That’s great Ash.  You’re going to be wonderful…”

    “This is awesome Ash.  Really…”

Aiden had cut Spencer off mid sentence and right about now she wished he would disappear.  She tried to get Ashley’s attention but all of that was on Aiden and Sam who were discussing Saturday night.

“Yeah a few of the local talent scouts will be in attendance.  I heard Ashley audition today…she’s gonna be great…”

    “She definitely is.”

Sam smiled warmly at Aiden and stood up.  She reached in her back pockets and pulled out two tickets for the show.

“Okay guys I gotta run.  Ashley dragged me down here because she insisted that I meet her two biggest fans…so I leave you both with these.  Show starts at 9:30 but don’t come too late…its gonna be packed.”

She handed one ticket to Aiden and one to Spencer who took it guiltily.  She was already calculating a hundred different scenarios that would get her out of seeing her mom.  She really wanted to be there for Ashley, but she just didn’t know if she could.  Sam walked over and gave Ashley a bug.

“Good luck…and don’t worry you’re going to be great.  Say hi to your dad for me okay?”

    “Will do…”

Sam waived at Spencer and Aiden before heading out.  Aiden grinned at Ashley and gave her a big hug in congratulations.  He put one arm around Ashley and one around Spencer.
