    Glen doesn’t do well at rehab – Paula tries to play her cards right, but Ashley is one step ahead of her – Drama to come – JadedRogue style…

     

                “Is that part of the drama?”  Asked Glen, struggling into the room, seemingly in pain, seeing his sister smacking her own forehead.

     

                “Yes,” answered Chelsea, and they all laughed, except for Spencer, who really wanted to know what was going on in that kitchen.  The usually open area of the bar was closed, as was the door.  Spencer didn’t like it, not one bit.

                “No one – no one – don’t wanna be no one – but me…,” sang Ashley, her mind playing the song in her mind.  The knife was a blur as she sliced the onions, and was making a sauce for the chicken. 

     

                “You have a nice voice, Ashley,” said Paula from next to her; she was preparing the chicken for the large pan, the oil heating up.  Elbow to elbow they prepared supper, pretending that everything was fine.

     

                “Thanks Mrs. C, you can blame it on my dad,” said the girl.  “Only good thing he ever gave me.”  Ruefulness in her tone.

     

                “Now, that can’t be true,” said Paula, Ashley took the green pepper and began to chop it also.

     

                “Oh yes, I can mean it.  He was never there, keeps telling me he will be, but you know, I’ve gotten used to no one in my life keeping their word,” a pause from the teenager.  “Well, ‘cept for Spencer.”

     

                “Do you really think you love her?”  Asked Paula and Ashley chuckled at the question.  Oh Paula was good at this, one to many college psych classes, thought Ashley. 

     

                “Love?  What’s love?  I think Spencer is one of the sweetest, funniest, sexiest, coolest people I’ve ever met.  I’ve met some cool people in my time too, but she isn’t the only one in the family that’s cool.”

     

                Score one for Ashley.

     

                “You’re to young to really be in love, think of all the things and the people you will have in your future,” added Paula.

     

                One in the barrel for Paula.

     

                “Think of all the people I can meet with Spencer.  Why waste time on other people, when you know who the right one is the minute you meet them,” was the quick answer that Ashley gave Paula.  Ashley threw the onions and peppers into the oil, checking the lemon sauce, dipping her pinky finger into it, tasting it.  “Perfect.”  Taking the chicken and gently putting it into the oil.

    3. Have I told you how much I LOVE this story?!? Ashley freaking ROCKS…she is officially the coolest person on earth (ehhh don’t tell me she’s not real…you’ll burst my bubble LOL j/k). I love how Ashley is matching Paula at every move AND how she’s making Spencer realize (or at least working on making her realize) how she’s lucky that her mom at least cares enough to be angry/unsupportive. I know Paula is a bitch, but it does show she cares and with time I’m sure Ashley will win her over. I LOVE THIS STORY!!!!! And woooooo, keep the updates coming. :D
