    A Different L: Episode 8 Part 5

Daisy: To me you’re always Supergirl and you’re always Kara and it doesn’t a difference to me.

Kara: It does. Just… next time I fall asleep in uniform… I don’t know, maybe sleep on the couch or something?

Daisy pulls back, her arms no longer around Kara’s waist.

    Daisy: …You’re offended?

    Kara: It’s not that-

Daisy: You’re offended that your girlfriend kissed you while in bed?

    Kara: The uniform’s off limits. I’m sorry. I can’t… I can’t handle-

Daisy’s consoling has turned into something opposite, her voice now bitter.

Daisy: You know what? Just save it. You and I and some friends took down Livewire and Silver Banshee. They’re locked up at STAR Labs where they belong. And all you can think about is your girlfriend kissing you and playing with your super-skirt!

Daisy scrambles off the bed, finding her pants on the floor. She rushes her way into putting them on while Kara tries to approach her.

Kara: Wait, Daisy please we don’t have to fight about this.

    Daisy: No we don’t.

Kara: I just need you to understand-

Daisy: What!? That your uniform? Your little crimefighting outfit’s more important than when we kiss in the morning?

    Kara: It’s not like that!

Daisy: How am I supposed to know that??? You don’t want me to touch you in bed, because you left your cape on??? You realize how stupid that sounds?

Kara: It’s not stupid! It’s my legacy! It’s my family’s legacy! It’s my life!!!

The last sentence strikes in a way unintended by Kara to Daisy. The hurt is immediate.

Daisy: It was fun teaming up with Supergirl last night. Next time you see her, Kara Danvers, tell her I said hi!

Daisy storms over to the door, pulling it open with Kara wanting to follow. Daisy’s Quake instincts kick in. She does not want to be bothered.

    Kara: Daisy-

Daisy places her right palm firmly against Kara’s chest and a small burst of vibrational energy causes a pushback hard enough to send even the Girl of Steel careening across the bedroom to the headboard. Kara looks up in shock and sees a similar expression on Daisy’s face.

For Barbara, there is no shock, merely the image of waking up alone. Once out of bed, she places her robe on and walks to the living room where she sees Liz just beginning to awaken on the couch.

    Barbara: Bed still uncomfortable?

Liz: It’s not that. It’s these kicks. I didn’t realize they were supposed to feel so… violent.

Liz looks up at her girlfriend with a smirk.

Liz: I’m beginning to wonder if you really did set me up to have a little Devil.

Back at Kara’s apartment, Daisy’s anger has just as quickly turned to sorrow. She slowly brings her right palm down while fighting with her own emotions. Kara is unhurt physically, but that is only physically.

    Daisy: I… I didn’t… I didn’t want… I’m sorry. Damn I am so sorry…

Kara cannot find the words. All she can do is look on as Daisy reaches down and unbuttons and unzips the pants she had just put on, sliding them down to the ankles and slowly stepping out of them. Both fighting back tears from this sudden outburst and misunderstanding, Daisy cautiously crawls back onto the bed. Kara responds by pulling her pajama pants down and away from her body. Both bodies slide back under the covers and their arms reach out to each other in apology and comfort. Only at this point do they allow the tears to stream down their faces, hurting from the hurt which they had managed to inflict so suddenly.

For the first time in their relationship, fear begins to settle in.
