    Their appointment was Tuesday afternoon with Dr. Wilson (OBGYN) confirmed that they were still experiencing sex far more frequently than most couples their age. Bette seemed a bit embarrass to admit that they were having sex only once or twice a week. Dr. Wilson smiled and said that the average for couples in the 50 to 60 age range was once or twice per month. They were far more active than the average couple. When asked why she thought Bette and Tina were more active than the average couple,

    Dr Wilson: You two are more compatible with each other than the average couple… you live for the other’s happiness and therefore you are happy as well. And you do get regular exercise, you eat properly and above all you are getting appropriate rest. And if I had to guess, I would say that you both have worked hard to reduce the stress levels in your life. And by doing so, your bodies are functioning better than average. And it doesn’t hurt that you are both sexually attracted to each other and always have been. And further, I would say that for you two, sex is meaningful. It never has been just an exercise, or something you need to do to satisfy some primal urge, or a duty that goes with being married for you two. And that makes a difference.

    The appointment was brief and the final one they would have with Dr. Wilson. In the future, they would be seeing Dr. Wilson’s daughter, Dr. Stanton who had assumed the practice. They wished Dr. Wilson happiness in her retirement and that they would miss her. However, the future would bring less visits to the gynecologist unless problems occurred.  Dr. Wilson advised them to see a general practitioner or an internist on a regular basis to keep an eye on their general health. That doctor would then refer them to specialist for their particular problems.

    On Wednesday night, it was the parent-teacher meetings.  Bette and Tina met with Daniel’s mathematics teacher, social studies teacher, science teacher, English teacher and Spanish teacher. Bette and Tina were not aware that Daniel was taking a foreign language. But they were pleased. Tina was fluent in Spanish and Bette was fluent in French.

      I love how attentive Bette and Tina are to each other and their family. Margaret has fitted in well and become part of the family and I have a feeling her and Mary are going to become close friends as well.
      Oh well, off to Bear Mountain for fun and relaxation…can’t wait , thank you !

    2. Janice… Both Bette and Tina were raised without a caring mother during their childhood. Tina’s mother although present had no interest in her children. So they both have somewhat subconsciously been looking for mother figures in their lives. Peggy has taken on that role for Bette until she found Mary. Her relationship with Mary has been long distance and been evolving. So now that they live in Los Angeles along with Paris and Kit, it seems like a natural progression for Mary to move to Los Angeles. Margaret joining the household is an act of the universe and for Tina gives her a surrogate mother figure. Yes, Margaret is a wonderful addition to the family. She and Mary provide companionship for each other so that they do not feel that they are a burden on Bette and Tina. They fill a need for each of them to have a social partner in the household as well as the family. And the house is large enough to provide each member some private space when that is desired as well. It is the ideal arrangement for both of them in their stage of life. However, Bette and Tina want both of these women to have their independence and lead the lives they wish to live for as long as they are able. You see, they really are capable of giving support and comfort and yet the space to lead their own lives. Margaret is the ideal person to assist Mary with this monumental move in her life. And both Mary and Margaret are getting the family back in their life which they both deeply desire. I particularly wanted Bette and Tina to realize and act that both of these women are adults capable of directing their own lives and not children or additional dependents.
