    6 Months- chapter 14

“Alice, that is from Bette.  What is going on?”

“T- I really think that we should just talk about this at a later time, ok?”

Tina looked at Alice squarely in the eyes and said, “I know that that note is from Bette.  Like I said, what is going on Alice?  I am not going to ask you again” she said in a low voice.

Dana, Shane and Shannon looked at the exchange between the two women.  None of them had ever seen Tina speak to Alice this way, really to no one before.  As much as Alice did not want to share the letter with Tina, she knew that she had no choice.

She dropped her head, looking at her feet as if they could jump in and help her here.  Tina was only inches from Alice and her eyes had never left Alice’s face.

Alice had no options and she knew it.  Tina was not going to back down, was like a dog after a bone, and since Tina knew that this involved Bette, Alice knew that there would be no way of talking her down.

She finally raised her head and quietly said, “Can we at least go outside, onto the porch?”

    “Yes” was Tina’s only reply.

Shannon started to follow them but with one look thrown over her shoulder from Tina, quickly changed her mind and retreated to the relative safety of inside.

Alice and Tina went to a table that had no one seated next to them.  Tina, never taking her eyes off of Alice, patiently waited for her to start explaining what was going on.

Alice did not speak though.  She merely fished the letter out of her bag and slowly reached across the table to give it to Tina.  Tina was hesitant in taking the letter as she knew that from the way the three girls were acting, that it could not be good news.

Never letting her eyes leave Alice’s, she took the envelope and brought it to her.  Finally allowing her eyes to leave Alice’s, she looked at the envelope.  The New York postmark did not register with Tina as she reached in to retrieve the contents.

Alice closed her eyes as she saw Tina open the letter and start to read.  As her eyes were closed, she simply wished to disappear, she wished for all of this to disappear, and yet knew that when she opened her eyes, all would be the same.

She heard no sound coming from the opposite side of the table, and knew that that was not a good sign.

She kept her eyes closed and waited.

Waited for the sound that she knew would finally come.

    2. As much as I agree with the other comments, I will try to patiently wait for Bette’s letter and Tina’s reaction because I want to read it all together in a full (long) chapter. All of our comments are a testament to your great writing! We are addicted to your fanfic :)
