“And that’s changed. You didn’t even get my message saying I was coming.”
“A lot of things have changed daddy, all for the better.”
Melvin cleared his throat. “Does this have to do with you missing T and Eli?”
Bette nodded a smile crossing her face at the mention of Tina and Eli. “Yes daddy it has everything to do with them. I’ve recently reconnected with Tina…”
Melvin looked impassive at the mention of Tina. “Ms. Kennard.”
Hearing her father refer to Tina as Ms. Kennard used to be the norm but this time when he said it, it seemed to grate on her patience. “Yes daddy Tina Kennard and Eli is her son.”
Melvin nodded his head toward Nero. “And that’s their dog?”
“Yes Nero is Eli’s dog. But daddy don’t you have anything to say about Tina and Eli?”
“What is there to say? You’re an adult and can carry on a relationship with whomever you see fit. And clearly you have chosen to take-up with Ms. Kennard again and apparently now she comes with a son and a dog.”
Bette felt her blood boil at how dismissive and condescending he was acting. “So you’re saying you have no thoughts on the subject.”
Melvin was looking at his daughter questioningly. Bette didn’t normally push him for his thoughts on her personal life for good reason.
“What would you like me to say?”
Bette sighed, exasperated that she didn’t see her father the way everyone else did sooner. “I want you to be happy for me, because I’m ecstatic. But I don’t want you to say it if you don’t mean it…” Bette sighed as she rubbed her forehead. “All I’ve ever wanted was for you to be proud of me, I…I’ve always cared about what you thought of me, of my life and how I lived it, but I can’t and won’t stand idly by as you treat my partner with indifference…”
Melvin’s temper was rising. “I have been nothing but civil towards Ms. Kennard and you will not continue to speak to me in a raised tone. If you want to continue this conversation then you will calm down and speak to me in the manner in which I deserve.”

I am glad Bette finally told Melvin how she felt. I am happy there was no San Diego drama with Tina. Love Nero. I can’t wait for B&T to finaly be together…I am sure it will be hot.

Fantastic update once again! You really had Melvin down pat, and it’s awesome that Bette confronted him on his crap from the past! Finally Bette stood up to her father. I know how difficult that is for Bette, but she now knows how important it is to have Tina and Eli in her life. Loved the little teaser that you gave us at the beginning of the chapter.

Great update as always. Bout time Bette stood up to her father. Please make sure Bette keeps in mind that Tina can handle things, and be careful of not trying to handle things for her. I’m soooooooooooooooo looking forward to those two actually hooking up. Too cute about Bette being worried about Eli hearing.
Amazing post once again Toribio!!!! I loved the little heated ‘thing’ on the couch between B&T, so cute and realistic…………and the things Bette told Melvin was spot-on, really great writing. BUUUUT now you can’t hold that NC-17 back much longer LOL and I can’t wait. Post soon, I’m addicted.

I was kinda hoping that Tina and Eli would be arriving during Bette’s tirade to her father, thus hearing how she stood up to him for her family’s sake, but well, whatever direction you’re taking is great with me, so… I thought you did a great job with Melvin. Leaving some hopes about his decision while still having him in character. Well done! Loved the teaser, that’s very promising for the real thing ya know…;) This ending has me look forward to the reunion between B&T, so please post soon (with all due respect for your school work, it’s great enough to have you share this wonderful story!) GREAT update, I like most am glad that Bette finally stood up to Melvin and I believe that Melvin will make the right choice. I can hardly wait until Tina finds out, oh yeah it will be “T” time for Bette. I am looking to Eli meeting Melvin and standing up tall for both his mom and Bette. Poor Bette is soooooo missing her family that are trapped in San Diego while she is home alone. PPS :o)
