A Perfect Design–Chapter 4

”Ok” Tina said then turned to the nurse behind the desk ”I’ll be down at the cafeteria”
”Bette let me go get the plans in my office and then we can go”
After Tina retrieved the plans she and Bette headed down to the cafeteria and after ordering found a table next to the window over looking the lake.
”Oh and here are the keys to the office and the directions. You can bring the keys back to me when you can”
”Thanks. I appreciate it. I have seen a dozen today and none of them worked” Bette took the keys and directions and put them in her purse and looked out of the window.
”That is so beautiful” Bette said as she couldn’t help but stare out at the lake.
”Yes it is. I love to go down there and just sit and unwind after I finish my rotation and grueling surgery schedule. I’m going to miss it once I move to the new medical center”
Still staring out at the lake, Bette thought for a minute then turned to Tina ”You won’t have to miss it”
Tina turned to look confusingly at Bette.
”What do you mean?”
”The lake. You can still have a lake at the medical center. The foundation for the medical center can be taken directly from the soil there instead of having it brought in leaving you with a future lake. I have been to the site many times and the soil there is great. It can work” Bette explained and watched as Tina’s eyes lit up.
”Oh that would be incredible. I mean if it isn’t going to go against the budget to do” Tina replied thinking it may be too much.
”Not at all. Actually not having to bring in anything in for the foundation will cut cost and leave room for constructing the lake. I will run it by Mr. Parker. Anything to save him money. I’m sure he would have no problem with it and I think the lake was his idea when he had this medical center built” Bette explained while moving her plate over to the side. ”Let me see your plans”
”Ok. I have been working on these for awhile and I’m no architect” Tina laughed as she handed Bette the plans.

TINA is oblivious to the effects she has on people and the kissing on the cheek is the door opening BETTE probably was needing. To lose a child however devastating TINA needs to stop beating herself up about what she should have done and remember the good she has since done in trying to find a cure and the quality of lives for her patients she has improved.BETTE is one smart lady.thanks
With the death of his son, Tina looks like
closed to their families, and Bette will
be the light that will make Tina finds happiness.
The entire constellation.
looking forward to your next post; great update
Harley96 so glad to see you back and posting again. I love this story and im so happy to see you writing again. I love the whole concept of this story. Tina dealing with so much grief and being a guardian angel to so many others, now being able to find her own savior in Bette. Please post soon!
Harley,
I believe that I absorbed the fact in the phone call between her and her mother that she hasn’t cleaned out her deceased son’s bedroom, much less belongings in all these years. Now, that’s creepy, very creepy, and interesting that Tina has this dark side of denial, or at best severe procrastination, not too mention a very patient Mother.
You foreshadowed a lot in the story with cracks, and buildings, and space being sought after and constructed. I definitely felt the presence and pressure of building things and emotions. Then, I wondered about the lake – a completely different image and thing.
Especially so, since you spent time on it being discussed and somewhat constructed in both character’s minds at the end. Now, I wonder what you have planned for the new lake. It definitely rules out drowning, as the cause of death for Tina’s young son, because she would be much less friendly toward those still waters.
As before me have said: Nice job, happy to read more when you post, and interesting beginning.

Love this story, anytime our girls are put in a new setting and profession such as a doctor makes for a great read. Sad Tina has lost a child to cancer at such a young age, herself included. I trust that Bette will help get her to face her past and fill her lonely heart. look forward to next post.
