David – Speaking of missing, Gwen Taylor was asking about you, Bette!
Bette – Gwen is here?!
The blonde’s eyes are on the brunette again, watching her reaction.
David – Yes, she is back from Paris and intent on finding you! She is outside.
Bette – In this case … will you excuse me?
She smiles and steps away from the group. Eric and Tina watch her walk away … while David discreetly watches the blonde watching the brunette.

David Ross’ mansion, night: Bette makes her way to the bar and asks for a drink.
Bette – Cabernet Sauvignon, please.
The bartender pours the wine on a glass and places it on the counter.
Bette – Thank you.
She takes a sip of wine and heads outside, looking around and spotting Gwen as she talks to another woman.
Andy Stewart passes by her with a short blonde in his arms.
Andy – Evening, Bette!
Bette – Hey, Andy!
He stops a few feet away and points at her.
Andy – We need to talk about the Sandra Cohen collection!
The gallery owner smiles.
Bette – Make the right offer and it will be all yours, Andy!
Andy – I know, I know … I’ll call you on Monday, OK?
Bette – Sure!
She nods.
The short blonde pulls Andy by the hand.
Andy – Don’t let it go anywhere until we talk!
He winks and Bette smirks, lifting her glass in a toast.

David Ross’ mansion, night: After Bette leaves, Tina smiles shyly at David.
Tina – Is Gwen … Bette’s girlfriend?
David – Well, I can safely say that she is another person in the long list of Bette’s admirers … which by the way …
He brings his left hand to his chest with a grin.
David – … includes yours truly!
She smiles politely.
Eric – Aren’t you of the wrong gender, David?
The art dealer chuckles and nods.

David Ross’ mansion, night: Bette turns her attention back to the living room and her eyes focus on Tina from a distance. What is it about her? – she asks herself as she watches the blonde’s slow movements, her soft gestures … the way she holds her glass and closes her eyes when she takes a sip … her quiet smile … her delicate hand touching her hair … her breathtaking slim figure inside an amazingly sexy dress … how she looks back in the brunette’s direction sometimes, searching for something … for someone … when she thinks that nobody is watching.
Bette heard Tina’s words … her dismissive words … how she said no to her in no uncertain terms … how she expressed that their kiss was a mistake that she corrected with reason … with logic … how Eric was her choice … how she didn’t deny her feelings for him. But her eyes … those hazel eyes looking into hers … never leaving hers … those eyes were saying something else entirely!
After taking a sip of wine, the brunette heads back toward the blonde.

David Ross’ mansion, night: David chuckles.
David – I’m not ashamed to admit, my friend … I never thought I would desire to be a woman one day just to be able to have a shot at winning another woman’s heart!
He smiles mischievously.
David – Tina … I wouldn’t mind being a beautiful young lady like you for a day.
He turns to Eric.
David – Of course the first thing that I would do would be to dump you, Eric!
Eric laughs amused.
Eric – Oh thank you, David … for breaking my heart!
David – And then I would use all my beauty tricks to seduce that stunning woman!
He turns to Tina.
David – You do have tricks, don’t you, Tina?
The blonde smiles self-consciously.
Eric – I’m picturing them right now!
Tina – Eric …
She admonishes her boyfriend, who chuckles.
Eric – I’m sorry, honey! I just had this incredible thought of you and Bette together!
David laughs out loud and Tina rolls her eyes. They don’t notice that Bette is approaching them right at that moment.
Bette – What is the joke?

So here I am, reading at the same time the old and the new versions : I knew I was so right to keep all these stories I loved, all these years ago :-)

Great chapter, Tina is still in denial but hard to contain herself, and from my point of view is ready to give up; looking at Bette like a teenager who can’t control her emotions.
But that is good because she is hard to get, for Bette, this is not just attraction, it’s also a challenge.

This Bette and Tina are both intriguing and mysterious. They are both having emotions which they do not recognize and cannot seem to identify. It seems they have an attraction to the someone which is either taboo or unattainable, but seems irresistible. I love this story so far. I look forward to seeing how these two make their way to each other.
Tina is in deep denial over her feelings for Bette. I hope she doesn’t keep rejecting Bette’s advances and make Bette seek out other women. I will be interested to know why Tina is afraid to accept her attraction for Bette.

Tina so in denial about her feelings and attraction to Bette. Her mouth is saying one thing but her eyes spoke the real truth and Bette catched that.
Others can see the connection between them but her own boyfriend is as clueless as always.
Looking forward to see the story develop.
