Bette – What about personal matters, Tina? Do you ever settle for less?
The blonde pauses before responding.
Tina – I haven’t.
Eric – I guess I should be flattered!
David – Absolutely, you should!
The two men laugh.
The brunette’s eyes are still on Tina.
Bette – So, are you saying that you’ve never denied your feelings?
The producer glances up at her boyfriend and smiles.
Tina – I don’t deny my feelings for Eric.
Eric gloats, a grin stamped on his face.
Bette smiles casually but her eyes show a level of intensity that the blonde senses.
Bette – And you always follow your heart?
Tina pauses again staring at the brunette.
Tina – I believe in reason and logic, Bette. I think that too many mistakes and too many crimes are committed every day because people act on passion alone.
Bette – I don’t believe passion originates crimes, Tina. Violence originates crimes. I believe in passion. And that passion should never be denied.
David – I agree! What would we be without passion?
The blonde smiles.
Tina – Both of you live and breathe art. Art and passion unquestionably come together. I have a more pragmatic view of the world. By trade, I can’t just act on passion. My business would suffer.
Eric – Mine certainly would!
Bette – Well, yes … I have a business too but … sometimes one acts on … instinct. Do you ever?
The producer pauses looking into brown eyes.
Tina – Not without second thoughts …
Bette – What if you can’t resist your instincts?
The blonde chuckles disconcerted.
Tina – I’m not perfect. I make mistakes, but I correct them with reason.
The gallery owner nods pensively.
Bette – I guess this is where we differ. I don’t consider passion to be a mistake. Ever!
Tina swallows hard, brown eyes piercing through her like two arrows.
David – And does she believe this! When she is passionate about something, she will move mountains to get it!
The blonde’s eyes are still on Bette, who smiles at her sensually.
Bette – I don’t settle for less either …
Eric – That, I have personally witnessed!
David – And so have I! And I don’t miss it!
David and Eric laugh.
The brunette breaks her gaze and turns to them with a smile on her face. Tina discreetly takes in a deep sigh.

Dear author, discovering again this wonderful story of yours I was lucky enough to read at the time you first posted it – hello, desert_bloom – , I’m currently savouring the subtile changes you brang in this current version – especially since we’re now sharing our dearest two’s secret thoughts and emotions…
So here I am, reading at the same time the old and the new versions : I knew I was so right to keep all these stories I loved, all these years ago :-)

Back then I was really terse, writing it strictly as a script., but I now think that there is more to say in these first chapters.

Great chapter, Tina is still in denial but hard to contain herself, and from my point of view is ready to give up; looking at Bette like a teenager who can’t control her emotions.
But that is good because she is hard to get, for Bette, this is not just attraction, it’s also a challenge.

This Bette and Tina are both intriguing and mysterious. They are both having emotions which they do not recognize and cannot seem to identify. It seems they have an attraction to the someone which is either taboo or unattainable, but seems irresistible. I love this story so far. I look forward to seeing how these two make their way to each other.
Tina is in deep denial over her feelings for Bette. I hope she doesn’t keep rejecting Bette’s advances and make Bette seek out other women. I will be interested to know why Tina is afraid to accept her attraction for Bette.

Tina so in denial about her feelings and attraction to Bette. Her mouth is saying one thing but her eyes spoke the real truth and Bette catched that.
Others can see the connection between them but her own boyfriend is as clueless as always.
Looking forward to see the story develop.
