    Author Notes:

    My beginning of Season 3…six months after Season 2. The ladies meet at The Planet, none of them realizing how shook up their lives are about to become.

    The table shook suddenly – not hard, but enough to shake everyone’s cups, sending coffee sloshing out onto the table.

     

    Jenny, her eyes wide, glanced around The Planet.  “What was that?”

     

    “Just a tremor, I’m sure,” Bette assured her, wiping a puddle of espresso up with a napkin.

     

    “Like an earthquake?” Jenny asked, looking a little scared.

     

    “Not a real earthquake,” Alice said, waving her hand dismissively.

     

    “Wow,” was all Jenny could say.

     

    “From time to time, they happen.  Not that often, though,” Shane told her. 

     

    “But doesn’t that mean a bigger earthquake is coming?” Jenny asked her.

     

    Shane shrugged.  “Sometimes.  I don’t think there’s anything to worry about, Jenny.  Contrary to contrary belief and movies, California doesn’t get horrible earthquakes everyday.”

     

    Jenny nervously twirled a straw between her fingers.  “I’ve just never really experienced anything like that, you know.”

     

    Tina leaned over and patted her arm sympathetically.  “That’s understandable.”

     

    Dana took a sip from her cup before saying, “I agree with Jenny.  It’s still kind of scary.  I meanwhat if, you know?”

     

    Alice laughed at her.  “You dork.”

     

    Glaring at her, Dana mumbled, “Shut up, Alice.”

     

    They were interrupted from continued argument when Kit walked up to their table, cradling Angelica.  “Look here, baby girl, it’s your Mama B and Mama T.”  Grinning, she kissed the sleeping baby on the forehead before carefully transferring her into Tina’s waiting arms.

     

    Bette glanced up at her sister.  “Did she give you any trouble?”

     

    “No more than you do,” Kit answered with a low chuckle.  “She was a perfect angel, as usual.”

     

    “Thanks so much for watching her, Kit,” Tina said gratefully.

     

    Kit waved off her thanks.  “It was no big deal.  Anything for my baby sister and her wife.”  She paused and amended her statement.  “Well, not anything.”

     

    “Here, have a seat,” Carmen said, pulling an extra chair over and pushing it up to their extra-large table.

     

    Kit smiled at her and sat down, stealing a bite of Bette’s croissant when she thought her sister wasn’t looking.

     

    “I don’t think so,” Bette complained, slapping at Kit’s hand.

     

    “I bet that’s what they were like growing up.  You know, taking each other’s stuff while the other’s back was turned.” Alice observed with a smile.

    9. great start. i usually read sharnmen fics but you made me read all of yours. i prefer this, all shook up cuz happier than others. i like gangs with baby, i like dana and alice’s argue and… I love shane and carmen’s new residence.

    10. It’s amazing to me that I like so many fanfiction stories better than the show itself. I loved your Dana and Alice scenes, and for a change, I was interested in reading the other characters’ parts too.
