    Chapter Sixteen

“You remember when we where little, you use to hold my hand when we climbed the rocks…you remember….”

“No…..I’m not walking down that street with you. I have a question.”

    “Shoot.”

    “Don’t tempt me.”

    “Sorry, your question….”

    “How does it feel?”

“How does it feel, to do what?”

“Killing innocent people…..how does it feel?”

The crowd is happy. They chant my brother’s name. They chant it over and over. I hear faint screams…..I hear…..shots, laughter, noise….this band of miscreants must reach the thousands…. and my brother…..

“Ask her…your beautiful distraction…..how she makes everything better….darker…yes?”

“Don’t do that…….this is me asking you, Shamus……answer me! How does it feel?”

    “Don’t call me that…..its Shay…..Shamus is dead….she…..She killed him……”

My brother. He speed walks over to Carmen and grabs her by her hair and throws her down on the floor. To Carmen’s credit she makes not a sound. I look up at the ceiling looking for something, faith, answers, enlightenment, understanding, patience…..

All I see are cracks in the ceiling.

I walk over and help her get to her feet. She looks so tough on the outside. Her jaw set, her eyes set, posture set, squared shoulders, firm grip her hands in mine, I look into her eyes and I can almost hear everything stop. There is nowhere to fall, she knows it I know it. In that one instant I blink, she blinks, and I swear that I feel that blood pump to her panic buttons and the steel has cracks, the foundation was straining, the weight was groaning she was going to buckle, she was going to break.

I shake my head. I mouth the word no.

He gets in between us. His blue eyes filled with jealousy…

“You want to know how it feels.”

    1. NO! I have feared the end of this story! Well you have writen so many amazing stories, I hope for the best ending, very long hopefully! lolFIVE STARS! *****

    2. Please answer me this, do you do this for a living? Chapter after chapter I’m still captivated by you.I’m suprised that Shane is still in love with Carmen. Love is the last thing I would feel for her. I kind of wish that we would get to see Carmen’s POV a bit, what her feelings are.

    3. i agree with Ragazzi, i am somewhat disappointed by Carmen’s behaviour. She was very passive, very unlike her character, did Shay torture her so much that she is now submissive to him? She left Shane in that horrible place! I am guessing from the title of this story, it’s a set up for unhappy ending. hope I am wrong! Anyways, kudos to you for giving us such intense stories! I am holding my breath until you update this story!! Please don’t let it end so soon… lol

    4. UH OH! Doesn’t seem like they are going to make it work. They’ve barely spoken for nearly a year – YIKES! Unless Carmen in all that time has planned a coup of some kind, to explain her distance, they seem doomed.
