"The spare bedroom would by my space," Tina said.
    "What do you mean?"
"If we’re going to think about living together, I have to have my own space," Tina said. "Even if it’s only part time."
"It’s yours," Bette replied. "Should I get rid of the bed?"
    "Part time, Bette."
"Right. You might still need a bed. We’ll usually share a bed though?"
"Of course we’ll share a bed," Tina replied. "We’re not talking about being roommates."
"But you will be closer to work, irrespective of whether you go back to Loyola, or stay with the District Attorney’s office. There is a practical component to this discussion."
"There are legal implications to this discussion," Tina noted. "Co-habitation vs. dating. Merging two households."
"You think I’m going to take you for everything you have?" Bette asked.
"I don’t have anything but student loans and an admittedly comfortable high end bed," Tina replied. "I was talking about you. We should put something together so your assets are protected."
"I don’t need anything," Bette waved off the suggestion. "If we’re living together, everything becomes community property."
"That’s a lovely sentiment when we’re getting along," Tina said. "But slightly less realistic if we’re at each other’s throat after an acrimonious break up."
"We’re not even living together and you have us breaking up."
"Given what we do for a living, we’ve both heard our share of horror stories about good love gone bad," Tina said. "A contract is an insurance policy against bad blood."
"You’re taking the romance completely out of this," Bette muttered.
"Come on, you know that even if we do break up, we’re going to be best friends anyway, might as well facilitate that with some legal wrangling."
"If I put something together, you’ll have a look at it?" Bette said. She knew there was no talking Tina out of it.
"Like I said, I have nothing to protect," Tina replied. "Get one of your partners to write it up and I’ll have a look at it when it’s done."
Bette reached for her phone and started punching in a text.
"What are you doing?" Tina asked.
