Angel Fire – 2
When Angie described the nude bedroom scene to Aunt Shane, the cool brunette had listened calmly. She knew that on subjects like sex that children sometimes knew more than adults thought and often didn’t want to know as much as adults were sometimes ready to explain, so Shane was careful.
“What do you want to know?” asked Shane, looking calmly at Angelica. Her whole attitude was that this occurrence was the most natural thing in the world. And actually, it was.
“Why weren’t they wearing pajamas?”
“You know that your moms love each other very much?” Angie nodded ‘yes’ to Shane’s question.
“OK, when grown-ups love each other very much, they sometimes sleep together without pajamas.”
“Do you and Aunt Carmen do this?”
“Yes.”
Carmen came into the room just in time to hear Angie’s last question. “Do we do what?” she asked. Shane’s expression didn’t change.
“Do we sleep together without pajamas?” Shane calmly informed Carmen.
Carmen was standing behind Angie so the child didn’t see her flush. She leaned down and kissed Angie on the top of the head and left the room after saying that she was fixing some sandwiches.
“Do they hug and kiss when they don‘t wear pajamas?” Angie continued the questioning. Shane had hoped that Angie would have been distracted by Carmen’s entry, but no such luck.
“They love each other so they usually hug and kiss,” answered Shane.
“Do they make sounds?”
“Like what?” asked Shane, thinking ‘uh oh.’
“Well, they say each other’s names… sometimes. And other words. And just sounds.”
“Does that bother you?” Shane asked.
“I wonder if everything’s ok because sometimes it sounds like somebody’s getting hurt,” said Angie with a worried look on her face.
“Yeah. Well, nobody’s getting hurt. Everything’s fine when you hear that. It’s just your moms talking to each other in a special way.”
Angelica didn’t comment and still looked a little unsure.
“It’s a way that they are saying how much they love each other,” Shane further explained.
“Are you sure?”
“I’m positive,” concluded Shane with a completely reassuring look.
“Ok,” Angie said, bouncing out of the chair, “I’m going home. Thanks, Aunt Shane.”
Shane strolled into the kitchen and put her arms around Carmen.
“Better you than me,” laughed Carmen. “How did it go?”
“All right, I think,” Shane replied. “It’s good practice for when our kids are old enough.”
Carmen rolled her eyes.
“And,” Shane said thoughtfully, “we ought to think about some kind of sound-proofing for our bedroom.” They thought about this quietly. “And, I’m going to have to talk to Bette and Tina.”
—————————————–
Angie, of course, did not know about this last part of their conversation, but she always remembered her sex talk with Aunt Shane when she was nine. As she grew older she became typically a little embarrassed by her parents’ physical relationship. But, as more time passed, she grew to feel more appreciation than embarrassment. She smiled at the thought, and had come to hope she could find someone she could love as much as her parents loved each other.
She had told Bette about being interested in girls, but knew that she needed to tell Tina, too. And Bette needed to be there. She wasn’t looking forward to this and she was nervous about the second thing she needed to discuss. Bette didn’t know about this second thing. Well, actually there were several things she needed to tell Bette.

exiting! Cant wait! hope you post soon!
that ws just so damned cute — i loved it
Enjoying this story Pancha. Let it continue.
What a sweet little thumbnail sketch of a child’s growing understanding of sexuality. And nobody got hurt, very good to know. None of this applies to my experience however, my brothers and I know for a fact our parents never had sex.
You know I love anything you write. This is another that I’ll love as well. One can never get enough of the B&T love, Pancha-style! Although, considering the poker-hot love that B&T evinced in ‘What is Love’, I would have predicted that they would have a house full of children, at least two or three. What’s up with the singleton child, Pancha? I’m sure you will explain it all for us. Thank you for your writing. It is as clear as glass, and that’s a GOOD thing!
BTW, I agree with Funnyone, my parents never had sex either. I would have gone deaf, dumb and blind if I’d witnessed what Sweetness had. B&T make wonderful parents. Thank you for the beguiling stories!
It’s always more intersting to see the couple’s intimacy from others’ eyes. =P
This was so excellent. The tone , the conversations, the words just pitch perfect. Your story is nuanced, thew comments insightful and real such as this one from Angie “Angie smiled at her parents. That kind of affection usually meant that they had made love the night before.” So perceptive. You showed us what it was like growing up in that home instead of telling us.
love this… can’t wait for the next chapter
Very well done. Thanks for such sensitivity.
This os incredible. I love how you work the mind of a child and bring it to light for the rest of us. Wonderful chapter.
First time commenting on your stories and just want to say that I’ve enjoyed your stories. Glad that you’re continuing with story line from “What is Love” and “A Lifetime” with the addtition of Angelica. Chidren sometimes do know more than what parents think they know. Can’t wait to read about B&T’s reactions to what Angel has to tell them. Thanks.
Most excellent!
My comment today won’t be very insightful as my head feels like it might explode any second. All I can really say is this chapter was really sweet and I think Angelica got some of her perceptiveness from her talks with Shane. Oh and my parents only had sex 1 time and that was so my mom got pregnant with me. At least that’s what I like to think anyway. ;p
this is so very sweet, i love the back and forth thing, so we get past and present and so nice to see that B&T are still together after 18 years and still love each other…i hope Tina won’t freak out about Angel’s love for girls and Bette will be okay with the other things…great story….(btw, i too wish you were in SF, it would be a great honor to meet you)
this is a really great story….pls continue
Got to love Shane for stepping in and explaining the no pajamas thing. Now that is a loving family relationship. I wonder how Tina will take it that Angie does indeed like girls better than boys. I also wonder what else that Angie needs to say to her parents. My heart is overflowing with joy.
What an absolute treat to have you back. This chapter is once again proof of how much you have been missed. Thanks!
Nice to have you back! Really enjoying this story. Thank you.
Pancha, would you kindly let me know if I need to purchase popcorn and beer for Angelica’s impending conversation with her parents…who am I kidding? I always have beer. Just let me know about the popcorn. Awesome story and chapter!
I just caught up with this. Glad you are back. This seems like its gonna be a very cool story. Thanks for taking the time.
So glad to see you writing andsuch a wonderful story. If I would haveseen my parents like that I would still be therapy. I just told my grand daughter I need to mop the Kitchen floor before I went to bed, She said why its not sticky , Damn I live with her. Loved this chapter thanks
I’m thinking Angelica was/is a handful. What a sweet family.
Loved this chapter. I hope Tina will takes Angelica’s news well.
Thank you for such a loving and well written chapter.
So great to see another story from you Pancha. I always enjoy whatever you write.
Great loving it!
Everything is so… intimate, I feel like I’ve warm honey flowing down all over me when I read. Lovely. :)
Aww, it was so sweet to see Bette and Tina’s love through Angelica’s eyes. Not the mention the coolness of Auntie Shane. Great story, looking forward to more!
love the easy flow of the story..post soon!!!!!!
So glad that Angie has Shane to ask questions and get her information. This question and answer session was handled with much sensitivity, carefully and much love and understanding. Shane is certainly Yodah for Angie. All children need someone they can talk with. Very well done Pancha. Great chapter, btw. Can hardly wait for the next.
Loved the conversation between Angie and Shane, you gave me tips, I know what I’ll say to my kids. I love the way how you’re describing the years in between
so nice! i like the way you used the past and the present! this is very very good. hope read you soon.
pancha…I hope you are writing the next chapter right this minute. I am enjoying it very much.
Excellent story, so sweet and light, just what I need…
