    Angie’s happiest Mother’s Day … ever

“OK mommies go put your precious baby to bed. Come on Alice you can hang out with me for a little while. I don’t want to go home to an empty house either. I’ll just sit around hoping that this will be the year that my son David will reach out and call his mother.”

They share hugs and kisses and say goodnight. Tina puts Angie to bed while Bette takes Riley out for his evening walk. As Bette is walking Riley she thinks about what Kit said about love cutting between all realities and bridging differences. Kit had abandoned her son David when he was a young child so he was raised by his grandmother. When Kit’s mother passed away David was already in college and he never contacted his mother. He’s been on his own ever since. Bette had always stayed out of it but she knew Mother’s Day was always tough for Kit. Bette thought that maybe it was time that she try to find her nephew. If for no other reason than to just make sure he was OK. She would get Tina’s thoughts on the subject when she got back home.

    ***

Tina was in the shower when Bette returned from walking the dog. Tina was thinking about the incredible day that their friends had planned for them. She was also getting very sentimental about family. She was turning 36 in a few weeks and her mind wandered to the idea of having another child.

Angie would turn 7 in August. She and Bette had both expressed that they wanted at least one more child but they had shelved the discussion until a more appropriate time. Tina was open to adopting but she’d really love to carry Bette’s baby again. This time with Bette fully involved in the entire process; start to finish.

She decided to schedule an appointment with Dr. Wilson who was still her OB/GYN just to have a full physical exam to see if a pregnancy was even possible. She didn’t want to get either of their hopes up if she wasn’t able to conceive for a second time and then there was the question of a donor.

If she could get an appointment in the next couple of weeks they should have results by the time they took the N.Y. trip and that might be a good time to broach the subject. Tina wouldn’t want to get pregnant until they were settled in their new home but at least they could start planning for it.

Tina was still lost in thought when the shower door opened and Bette joined her. They made love in the shower and again in bed. What a perfect way to end a perfect day.
