On the drive home Bette, Tina, Alice and Kit talked about arrangements for Angie while Bette and Tina traveled to New York at the end of the month. They decided that Alice would stay at their house so that she could get Angie to school on Friday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. Kit would pick her up from school and take her to the Planet for dinner and Alice would meet them there after her work day.

They arrived at the house and Monica opened the car door from them. As always the service was impeccable. Bette confirmed the pickup time for the Thursday before Memorial Day and bid Monica a good night. Angie had fallen asleep during the drive home so Bette carried her into the house. She put her down on the couch to say thank you and goodnight to Kit and Alice.

“Alice, Kit this has been the most incredible day. Thank you both so much for making it so special for us. You two are the best family we could have ever dreamed of. I love you guys more than you know. You mean the world to me. Thank you for always being there.”

“I feel the exact same way as Bette just expressed. I don’t have any family or close relatives and even when Bette and I separated you both stuck by me and never loved me any less. Thank you for that. I love you both.”

“There’s only one thing that cuts between our realities and that’s love; the bridge between our differences. We have so much love in our lives, we just have to keep that love strong and stand by each other. You’ve both been there for me during some of my lowest times so don’t thank me for loving you because you loved me first.”

“OK guys it’s going to be hard enough going home to an empty house after such an amazing day together. Don’t get all mushy on me. I love you guys too. The greatest gift you’ve given me is trusting me with your most precious gift. Know that I will always be there for PJ. I kid around a lot but I take my role as her Earth Mother very seriously.”
