    Finishing off their night at The Planet

    Bette’s attention focused back on Helena and watched as the brunette leaned even closer to Tina so that she could point out the desert she was talking about. As if she couldn’t do it from where she was originally sitting.

    "Jesus Christ, I’m talking to you!" Ava slapped Bette’s arm much harder and caught the attention of Helena and Tina this time.

    "Ow! What? I’m listening" Bette grumbled as she rubbed her arm.

    "What’s with you?" Ava narrowed her eyes as Tina discreetly looked at Bette and wondered the same.

    "Nothing, I want this one" Bette pointed to the picture of a slice of cheesecake as a waitress looked over her shoulder and wrote down her choice. She glanced at Tina who had quickly looked away to choose her own desert.

    "Ugh why didn’t you get the brownie or something? I don’t like cheesecake" Ava whined.

    "Then don’t eat it" Bette said snapped, glancing once more Tina’s way to see if Helena had gone back to flirting. Didn’t she know Tina had a girlfriend? Why couldn’t she just lay off?

    As the waitress took her order, Tina looked over at Bette and Ava as she wondered why there was so much tension between them. Bette snapped at Ava for no reason. Well, Ava was being an annoying spoiled brat but still. Every time she said something to Ava, Bette seemed to look Helena’s way. Was Bette . . . jealous? The thought had Tina biting back a smile, she wanted the brunette to be jealous.

    It was too silent at the table for Alice’s taste, everyone was engrossed in their own conversations . . or arguments so she took it upon herself to break the silence and the tension.

    "So Bette, did you know that Tina’s an art fanatic just like you?"

    Bette turned her head away from Ava just as the blonde turned hers away from Helena, their eyes locking instantly. Shane discreetly nudged her elbow into Alice’s side, causing the blonde to jerk to the side and let out a small yelp. Everyone at the table turned to give Alice an odd look before returning to their previous tasks as the blonde shot her friend a mean look. Dana, who had finally joined them, gave Alice a look of her own and silently told the blonde to behave.

    6. thank goodness neither are married. yay. so let’s get the story moving a bit more. nudge nudge. I am so glad bette found some guts to acknowledge her feelings and to confess so early. i just hope they do it the right way. can’t stand ava, i hope she learns that she has been taking bette for granted. at least sam seems decent enough towards tina.

    7. btw, i like that helena is included in the mix. it makes it more interesting and helps that there is jealousy in the picture cos it is the first clear sign of how serious their relationship is going to be. like it!!

    10. I’m really enjoying this story. I hope Bette dumps Ava very soon. And I hope Tina finds out what Sam is really like and dumps her too. Even if Bette and Tina don’t get together they need to get away from people who don’t really love them.

    15. One day, Ava will meet the right person. Clearly, Bette is not that person. Bette, however, has met the right person. She just isn’t free to explore anything with her. At least she’s coming more and more to understand what she doesn’t want and the glaringly obvious mismatch of her pairing with Ava. Hopefully, Bette just goes about everything in the right way. Tina, too. Thank you for the post, Liah! :)

    16. Woohoo!! An update from Liah!! :-D sooooo… happy!! Thanks for your generosity posting update Liah!! :-) the uncertainty and tension and chemistry is so palpable!! Good writing Liah! Well done! 😁👍You do put all the perfect words for the story and I can simply picture the situation as if watching the movie! The connection between Tina and Bette is bitter sweet. It’s so hard to follow your heart when all the norms and logic contradict it! I hope the bitter part would be gone soon and let them appreciate the sweetness in time to come ;-) … If there’s an award for creating antagonist character, I would give one for your Ava! :-) PPVS as I am pining for reading more! Especially after you end the chapter that way! ;-) LOL
