As Good As It Gets – Chapter 4

Sleep didn’t come for Bette that night, too many thoughts invaded her mind and prevented her from drifting off. She spent a good portion of the night wondering if Tina’s confession was a good thing and spent the other portion of the night wondering if it was wise to have even encouraged a confession by giving one of her own.

She may very well have opened Pandora’s box, everything she fought against and tried to control would soon wreak havoc. As Helena always said, whatever starts in chaos, ends in chaos.

Bette was determined not to let things get that far however, there was too much at stake. Despite the fact that Ava’s personality was horrible, she wasn’t a bad person and Bette did love her girlfriend a great deal. She had to or she wouldn’t have put up with so much of Ava’s shit.

Much too afraid and unsure of what to say when she called Tina, Bette opted not to and went about her day instead. It was pretty hectic at the studio, she and Kit had a lot of demos to listen to, music videos to view and edit, tons of paperwork and a few other rather tedious things.

Before she knew it, the day was nearly over and her night would soon begin. She had a great love for music but like the blonde Bette was trying not to think about, she painted as a hobby. A few months prior, Alice stumbled upon Bette’s personal collection of work and took the liberty of showing them to an old friend, Jodi.

With some persuasion, Jodi and Alice convinced Bette to show off her work at Jodi’s gallery opening. Bette had been skeptical seeing as how she never thought she was any good but both of her friends insisted that it would be "just for kicks" so Bette eventually relented and gave her approval.

It would be a night for Bette to remember, that much she was certain. It was just a shame Ava was so against sharing such a special night with her. Bette had put her entire heart and soul into her relationship with Ava, she would have liked to see it work but she couldn’t help but wonder why she didn’t meet Tina instead.

    1. Neither one is married to their GFs so break it off as gently as possible and then see where their relationship can go. It may burn fast and furious and then flame out or it might be the “Eternal Flame”.

    2. Thanks for the posting… Wow! I wish that relationships didn’t get into the desperation phase when their time of completion was over.I know that letting go is hard but when the relationship has come to its end being miserable is truly not the way to go. Holding on to something that isn’t there is a cruel thing to do to yourself. Life is too short to be so miserable. Let go to Sam, Tina! Let go of Ava, Bette. Its okay to do that as being miserable is not evolving. guess maybe its a fear that everyone will look at us as being failures in a relationship, but honestly that isn’t what the truth of it is. Others come into our lives for a reason, a season or a lifetime… to reflect back to us parts of ourselves… our past, our present or a possible future.

    3. Oh, WOW!!! This will be the forever kind of love with these two when they finally get together. Please let them both know somehow that their girlfriends are having affairs and they don’t have to be feeling guilty to break off their respective relationships. They are so right for each other. Awesome chapter. Thanks.

    4. loving it! I just think if Tina is so eager to get Bette to realize that Tina’s is better for her than Ava then Tina should not seem guilty about Sam, I mean she shouldn’t seem unsure herself. Hope to read more soon Liah! Thanks :D

    5. I hope Bette has now gotten all the encouragement she needs to do the right thing and end it with Ava. Tina has some thinking of her own to do. In the mean time, Helena needs to give up with the pursuit of Tina already. But… if she waits around long enough, she can be there to “console” Ava. They would likely be a perfect match. ;) Thanks for the post, Liah! :)

    6. There is an analogy that I have in mind for Bette and Tina’s situation but words fail me right now. I love where you have taken this story, I feel like you’re trying on something new. You’re doing a great job conveying Bette’s turmoil, and I love that you made Tina intuitive enough to pick up on it. The fact that she had the audacity to bring it up shows immense courage. I’m glad that they’re taking time apart to evaluate their own relationships. Doing the right thing in other words. I have a question for you, do you feel that a story is easier to write if sides are black and white and Bette and Tina’s? They’re both unhappy in their current relationships and should be with each other. Would they have felt the same way about each other if they were happy with their girlfriends? Ok that’s 2 questions but I just love how you weave your stories. You really do love us. Thank you for the awesome post Miss Liah. I hope I don’t offend you with my questions.

    7. Oh this just getting more, and more interesting . I can’t wait to see how each will handle this situation. And how they deal with they feel about each other. What will each decide and will they end up together . Can’t wait post soon
