Tina wanted to ask how Bette was doing, but with Angie in earshot, she thought better of it.
Angie watched as Shane styled and curled her mother’s hair until it was time to assist her with the placement of the wedding tiara.
Shane squatted a bit so that she was eye level with a sitting Tina and being careful to make sure the tiara set just right atop Tina’s crown.
“There we go.”
Shane’s eyes finally drifted from Tina’s hairline to her shining hazel eyes.
“You look like a princess, Tina.” She smiled.
Tina looked at herself in the mirror, her cheeks hurting from smiling so wide. “Thank you so much, Shane. I’m starting to feel like a princess. Will you stick around while I finish the ensemble with my dress?”
“Sure. Alice is gonna be pissed though.” Shane turned and patted a second chair for Angie to take.
“She’ll get to see me soon enough when I walk down the aisle.” Tina let her robe slip from her shoulders as she had her dress squad carefully assist her with putting on the wedding gown so as not to get any makeup on it or mess up her carefully coiffed hair and tiara. It was a strapless sweetheart neckline with a pearl-shaded bodice that laced up the back. The train was simple and elegantly flowed from the form-fitting satin skirt that trailed only about 18 inches beyond Tina’s heels.
“You have your four luck charms?” Shane asked with a teasing smile. She busied herself with hair applying hair product to Angie’s curls to give them more shine and bounce.
Tina laughed. “Well, I’m the something old, the tiara is my something new. I’m actually wearing Carrie’s earrings so they are my borrowed, and Angie is my something blue.”
Shane looked at Angie through the mirror and nodded with a smirk. Angie just shrugged ambivalently. The gesture reminded Shane so much of Tina.
“I guess that means you haven’t seen any signs, then?”
“Signs, what do you mean signs?”
Shane’s smirk turned serious as her eyes met her friend’s through the mirror once again.
“Signs that you’re making the wrong decision?”
“Shane.” Tina only said one word, but it meant so many others. Please don’t do that right now.

Great words from Shane…. I wonder if they mean anything to Tina?
If marriage does not enhance a relationship, then why marry? For many marriage does enhance a relationship its a promise to forsake all other possibilities and to commit yourself to one person now and forever.
My understanding of the four good luck charms is that they must be on the bride’s person to be effective. Having Angie as your object of blue would not count. Okay, Whatever….

Thanks for reading! This was just a little vignette. I have no plans at the moment to finish it. As I said in my author notes, I have many little wedding scenes in my head that I’m just vomiting on my screen to exercise the muscle a bit.
I think you are correct about the four good luck charms, but I suppose that is just another reason why this marriage is doomed if Tina is not abiding by the rules.

How can you be madly in love if you know that you’ll only be “happy enough” to marry someone? Tina is cheating herself out of true love, and we all know that.

Thanks for posting, MeLL. Yes, a very good and a very Shane question. Tina accepting the proposal and getting married because being with Carrie is easy explains a lot for me. Taking the easy road with someone to simply settle. The other choice would be the love of your life and passion but the risk of being burned or squashed by it.

After the exchange between Tina and Bette in 106 of GenQ, it seemed like Tina still harbored some resentment toward Bette about their relationship so it seems only fitting that Carrie is the exact opposite of Bette in that regard. But yes, she is settling. Relationships are hard work, but it makes it that much more worth it when you have to work at it. Especially where passion is concerned. We all deserve those breathtaking moments. Thanks for your unwavering support and comments Kiwi!
This story is excellent. I hope they use it in Season 2. Shane will always be Yoda and Alice’s mouth continues to be a lethal weapon

Shane is definitely intuitive and wise like Yoda. And yeah, Alice is a trip. I’m going to try to keep my expectations low for Season 2. Expect the worst, but hope for the best.
