    Bad Students

Ms. Williams: Maybe not, but you are the one I heard screaming calling someone a prick which is very disruptive.

    Bette: But…

Ms. Williams: No buts. Elizabeth this summer I want you to think long and hard about what you want to do with your life…although you have a long way to go and a lot of young years ahead of you, it’s not to earlier to start working towards those goals and straighten up your act. You are my brightest student, you have perfect grades but your behavior is poor. Now I’m going to let you go since it is the last day of school but you think about what I said and hopefully I will see a new Elizabeth come this fall.

Like lightening, Bette bolted up quickly completing not caring about the words Ms. Williams just said to her, it was safe to say they went into one ear and out the other.

    Ms. Williams: Elizabeth!

    Bette: Yes Ms. Williams.

Bette stopped at the door barely hiding the annoyance on her face.

Ms. Williams: You will think about what I said?

Bette: Yes ma’am. Changing my life. Got it! See you next year.

And with that last word, Bette dashes out the classroom door to go and look for her friends.

Ms. Williams: That girl is going to be the death of me…I can’t believe that jerk Mr. Sapphire gave me her for the rest of her school years, what is this… Save by the Bell.

Ms. Williams ran her hands down her long braids, then laid her head on the desk.

    Ms. Williams: Help me now.

She said with her head pressed hard against the wood of her desk.

    Outside…

The gang was sitting on the school picnic tables waiting for Bette.

Tasha: What did she do, escape from the dungeons?

Everyone turned to look in the direction Tasha was nodding to, they saw Bette running fast with her backpack in her hands unzipped and paper falling out everywhere.

Shane: Wow slow down running man, why are you so in a hurry?

Once near her friends Bette bent down touching her knees desperately trying to catch her breath.

Bette: Shoot I was trying to get out of there.

Bette says between breaths as she held her chest to stop it from beating so fast.
