Chapter 5
“Bette! Wait!” Tina rushed out making her way through the mass of partygoers everywhere.
Once outside she looked in every direction but did not find the brunette anywhere. The blonde now really started regretting teasing her. Perhaps she had gone too far. She was being so sweet. You shouldn’t have behaved that way Tina. You idiot! Oh my God she is never ever gonna talk with me again.
The blonde was now close to tears.
Just as she turned to go inside with a small heart, her gaze fell on a lone figure sitting around the corner of the building on a bench partially hidden by the bushes.
As it was dark she couldn’t see who it was clearly but somehow she was drawn towards the person sitting there hunched over and all alone.
As Tina took a few more steps closer she let out a soft gasp.
Bette was sitting there quietly sniffling.
Tina’s heart broke looking at the sight of her beautiful woman sitting there all alone, so vulnerable, so precious, surely feeling upset over her mindless teasing.
“Hey…” Tina said softly as she came to a stop in front of Bette.
Bette looked up startled and quickly rubbed the palms of her hands over her face drying it of her innocent tears.
“Mind if I join you?” Hearing no response Tina quietly asked the brunette.
The small shake of the head let Tina know that it was okay to take a seat near the distressed brunette.
She slowly sat down next to her trying to think of what to say next.
A few minutes passed as they both sat in silence next to each other just staring ahead.
“I’m sorry.” They both said simultaneously after a little while and looked at each other in surprise.
“No, no you have no reason to be sorry about. I am the one who should be really sorry. I shouldn’t have teased you like that.” Tina said shaking her head adamantly at the brunette.
“No, I shouldn’t have gotten you that gift. It was a stupid idea. You must hate it.” Bette continued on.
