Bette
’Imbecile!’ Tina cursed at a driver that cut us and made sure we had to wait for the next green light.
’You can still go right. This thing doesn’t work.’ I gave a dismissive wave of my hand to the navigation system. It was unimpressed and instead flashed the name of Tina’s assistant when her ringtone filled the car. ’What does she want?’ I barked.
Tina answered and pressed down the turn signal to the left.
’Mrs. Porter-Kennard, sorry to disturb you.’ A timid voice started. And I rolled my eyes. Tina must have insisted a million times to be called Tina, but Claudia was too shy to actually do it. ’Is it a bad time to bring you up to speed on the conference call that you missed this afternoon?’
’Can you put it shortly on mail for me?’
’I would but you see, something came up and it’s easier to explain over the phone.’
’I’m in the car, can I call you back?’ Tina joined the cars into the pre-sorting line to the left. I couldn’t even see the end of the line straight into the busiest part of Paris. I pinched the bridge of my nose.
’Uhm.. well I was…’ Claudia hesitated.
’Of course, stupid of me. Holidays.’ Tina bit her lip and closed her eyes briefly. ’Tell me quick.’
’The Ministry of Culture decided to changes the dates for the permit for the shooting at Boulevard Raspail last moment, but we already arranged everything. So.. I don’t know.’
’I’ll take care of it. Thank you for calling.’ Tina said absentmindedly, but sounded sincere. ’Oh and enjoy your holidays.’
The moment Claudia ended the call, I cleared my throat. ’Good evening Mrs. Porter-Kennard.’ I mimicked Claudia’s timid voice. ’I’m so not sorry to interrupt you while driving. I just kindly wanted to inform you that if you would have taken the first turn to the right, maybe you would have had a chance to arrive home at all tonight. But since you didn’t want to follow the advice of your wife who by the way has lived here most of her life, maybe you could take into consideration what I’m suggesting. Take the fucking next turn right!’ I exclaimed vigorously pointing both hands to the right.

This is so well written, you can almost touch the pain, the sadness, the guilt, the sorrow but also the love she has for Tina.
I love how you let us read and feel the inner thoughts of both Tina and Bette.
I feel shrunken. Everything is so sad, you write their feelings in such a clear manner it’s almost as if I’m the one going through the heartach
When I saw 2.0, I thought, how could this original be improved or redone, but OMG you capture raw emotion so well. The pain, hurt, longing… love. Most excellent.
Even if I want to slap Bette regularly I so enjoy this story. The change of perspective is perfect to put the puzzle of what happend between the once happy couple together. I hope Bette will get over herself and her anger soon and starts talking to Tina.
