    Bewitched and Bewildered…A Halloween Challenge

Block after block Bette nervously looked back and forth between the streets going by and her steering wheel. About five minutes had gone by since they had passed Roosevelt and in that time her car had made three different left hand turns…never right…always to the left.

For a woman who craved control Bette was almost at the end of her wits. She had tried everything to stop her car. She’d tried to pull over and put it in park, but the car just kept on going. She’d tried to change the gear into Neutral thinking she could then put on the emergency brake, but the car kept going. And then just when she thought she was going completely crazy they took another left turn into a housing development with a big sign stating they had arrived at Pumpkin Patch Estates.

Natalie squealed in delight as they drove past house after house with glowing pumpkins on the front porches and Halloween decorations in the yard.

“Look it all these pumpkins,” she whispered in awe. “Where are we mommy?”

“I honestly don’t know sweetheart.” Bette too stared out at the street that looked like it was right out of a children’s storybook.

“Can we stop and go trick or treating here?” Natalie asked.

“I honestly don’t know that either,” Bette sighed in defeat, having let go of the steering wheel about two left hand turns before. They both stared in silence, their noses pressed up against the windows wondering what was coming next in their strange, out of this world adventure.

When they were about three quarters of the way up the street they both noticed that one house stood out from all the rest. Its pumpkins were bigger and seemed to glow brighter than…

“Look Mommy! The pumpkin faces are changing!” Natalie shrieked.

Bette looked to where her daughter was pointing, and sure enough the carved faces on the pumpkins on the porch railing seemed to slowly change to different expressions.

So caught up were they in watching the pumpkins that neither one of them realized that Bette’s precious car had made one last left turn, and it was into the driveway of the house with the moving pumpkins. Bette only tore her eyes from the pumpkins when she realized her car had not only stopped, but had automatically shifted into Park.

    1. That was a great post. So first the treat of the story and the trick of them never really meeting. You know that you must continue this story right, so that at some point, the two women actually do meet one another and etc., etc.

    2. WOW!! seeing a new post from you is such a great treat this halloween! But i think that this story needs a sequel i mean you cant just let this to end like that.. Bette and Tina have to meet each other again whether in the real or magical world.. So loved this, thanks Sea!:-D
