Busy Lives
“I like that idea Kit.” Tina loved being part of the planning committee, especially for such a worthy cause.
“OK that takes care of entertainment. I also have food and beverage covered. Lara will oversee that for us again this year.”
“Thanks Kit. Bette’s ‘ultimate gifts’ idea for the silent auction was very successful. We are doing that again for sure. The live auction for a celebrity date is another keeper. I think having the date packages preset with a minimum starting bid was a genius idea.” Jamie continued.
“Monica volunteered to provide complimentary limo service for our celebrities and some of the date packages also include transportation courtesy of Monica’s car service.”
“Tina that’s all excellent. Of course, we will have the dance competition again. Are you and Bette competing?”
“You bet. She and I have been practicing. we’re really looking forward to it.”
“Tasha and I are going to compete so tell Bette she better step it up because you’ve got some ‘real’ competition this time.”
“Bring it on baby. We’re ready for you.”
Alice and Tina are about to get into it when Jamie brings the conversation back to the focus of the meeting.
“OK back to the event. Instead of Casino Games we’re going to do Carnival Games & Booths. The company that I’ve hired will do all the set up and provide all the staffing to man the booths, so we don’t need to worry about that. They can do food booths with popcorn, cotton candy and caramel apples if we want. They will do games like ring toss, and baseball toss, and we can have face painting, fortune tellers, even a kissing booth.”
“That sounds like a lot of fun.” Kit chimed in.
“Shane has volunteered to be our official photographer for the evening and our friend Lisa is building a website link for online donations. Patrons will be able to go to the LA Gay and Lesbian Center website and link to the events page to see pictures. The opportunity to make online donations will be available year-round.”
“Wow Tina. That’s impressive. OK then. It looks like everything is on schedule. We’ll have one more meeting before the main event. Our volunteers are out hitting the pavement getting sponsorship and gift donations. Adding the online donations this year will reach a vast group so we’re increasing our goal from $250,000 to $300,000. Tina I also wanted to thank you for staying on the committee. Julie and Mark have been terrific to work with, but you’ve been involved since the beginning. It’s great to have you stay on-board.”

Nice memory invoking Chapter, thanks as always.

Our girls are busy with their lives and getting things in place to operate when the time comes that they need to take time for the birth of the baby. With Thanksgiving and Christmas coming and their families getting together and growing in numbers is going to be a really joyful occasion for the Kennard-Porter family. Family is not something Bette had a lot of. And since Tina met and fell in love with Bette, her family virtually disappeared as well. They now have more family than they ever imagined.
Why is Jodi snubbing Tina? Jodi ended the relationship not Tina. Jodi didn’t want the relationship and Bette finally saw it. I think its a true and correct assessment that Bette and Jodi will not be friends. Bette was just a shinny new toy in Jodi’s life which she quickly got board with and wanted to move on. And unlike Jodi, Bette was looking for a committed relationship with love and grace and self-fulfillment. That could only be Tina.
Thank you for this chapter….keep them coming…more please?
Great chapter!
They are a very busy family!
Look forward to the next chapter!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Technology has changed so much in such a short period of time. Bringing Jodi back to town makes drama very present. I hope this time Tina and Bette don’t take their eyes off the prize. Keep posting, please.
