Busy Lives
Robert the MC took the mic. “Ladies and Gentlemen. The moment you’ve all been waiting for. Next up we have the final contestants for our dance competition this evening. This couple won first place last year, but the competition is tough. They need to beat the top score of 9.5 in order to walk away with first prize tonight.”
The lights dimmed and the first sounds of the Latin beat could barely be heard over the din of the crowd. Everyone got quiet when the spotlights lit Bette and Tina on opposite sides of the stage. They both looked amazingly beautiful in their dance attire and special stage makeup. They came together center stage in perfectly synchronized movements and started the five-minute salsa dance routine. The crowd went wild and the noise level increased as they applauded, shouted and whistled. Jodi Lerner walked into the club just in time to witness this beautiful soulful and sensuous exhibition of two women so in-tuned to each other that they moved as one. Seeing them together like that reiterated the fact that she and Bette never stood a chance. Bette and Jodi had tried hard to ‘create’ the synergy in their relationship that came so effortless. Bette and Tina won the competition for the second year in a row with a perfect score of 10 out of 10. As they finished their dance they hugged and kissed and walked off the stage to continued applause. They headed to the bathroom to freshen up. Jodi walked into the restroom just as they were leaving. She acknowledged Tina with a nod and gave Bette a hug. She signed to Bette trying to exclude Tina from the conversation, but Bette replied verbally.
Jodi: You two put on quite a show. Congratulations.
“Jodi! This is a surprise. I didn’t know you were back in Los Angeles.”
Jodi: I just flew in this afternoon. I’m doing an installation at the Hammer Museum.
“Congratulations. How long will you be working on it?”
Jodi: It’s a three-month project.
“Good for you.”
Jodi: Thanks. Phyllis tells me that you resigned from CU to open your own gallery. That came as a surprise. You never mentioned to me that you wanted to open a gallery.

Nice memory invoking Chapter, thanks as always.

Our girls are busy with their lives and getting things in place to operate when the time comes that they need to take time for the birth of the baby. With Thanksgiving and Christmas coming and their families getting together and growing in numbers is going to be a really joyful occasion for the Kennard-Porter family. Family is not something Bette had a lot of. And since Tina met and fell in love with Bette, her family virtually disappeared as well. They now have more family than they ever imagined.
Why is Jodi snubbing Tina? Jodi ended the relationship not Tina. Jodi didn’t want the relationship and Bette finally saw it. I think its a true and correct assessment that Bette and Jodi will not be friends. Bette was just a shinny new toy in Jodi’s life which she quickly got board with and wanted to move on. And unlike Jodi, Bette was looking for a committed relationship with love and grace and self-fulfillment. That could only be Tina.
Thank you for this chapter….keep them coming…more please?
Great chapter!
They are a very busy family!
Look forward to the next chapter!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Technology has changed so much in such a short period of time. Bringing Jodi back to town makes drama very present. I hope this time Tina and Bette don’t take their eyes off the prize. Keep posting, please.
