“I will be with you every step of the way Bette, if you want. I have Dana’s, but I have people running that, so I have time outside of work. If you need help, I’ll be here for you, no questions asked.” Shane says sincerely. Bette looks at Shane with a smile.
“I can’t ask that of you.” Bette says.
“We are family Bette, and how many times didn’t you and Tina help me out years ago. I would probably be dead if it weren’t for you two.” Shane says and takes Bette’s hand in hers.
“I…” Bette says as a new wave of tears comes pouring out. They sit like that for a few minutes until Bette calms down. She looks at her watch and sees that it’s close to 9. “Shit Angie will be home any minute now. I don’t want her to see me like this.” Bette says and stands up again and walking towards the doors and inside. Shane follows. Bette walks into the bathroom to clean her face. Cover up the tears that has been present for the last hour. Few minutes later she walks back out. Shane leaning up against the wall.
“You should tell Angie. She’s 16 years old Bette, she’s not a little kid anymore and she knows there is something wrong. She told me that she thinks you are hiding something from her… and boy was she right about that. She deserves to know. She loves you.” Shane says.
“I know. It’s hard…” Bette says defeated.
“This is something that you shouldn’t do alone. You don’t have to be strong here Bette. You can rely on us, your friends and family. We will help you with everything you need.” Shane says and walks up to her and bring her in for a hug once more. “We love you, you know.” She adds.
“I know, and I love you too…. I’m also sorry that I’ve been a hermit the last few months. I appreciate you guys trying to get me out, but I haven’t been in the mood. It’s a process I’ve had to go through. I will never get over Tina. There will never be anyone like her for me ever again. That I know. And it’s a hard pill to swallow.” Bette admits.
