    One giant leap…

    Tinas body froze as the arms wrapped tighter around her waist. She felt a rush of warm air hit her ear and send shivers down her spine.

    Jess: where did you disappear to?

    Tina spun around not believing her ears.

    Tina: Oh, um, I, well, I

    Jess: Can I assume you werent expecting me?

    Tina: You could say that.

    Jess released Tina from her arms but stood just inches away from her.

    Jess: I went to get you your drink and when I got back you were gone. I thought maybe you jumped ship.

    Tina: Oh no, quite the opposite, it was the ship that made me jump.

    Jess: Seasick?

    Tina: A little.

    Jess took Tinas hand softly.

    Jess: Youll feel better downstairs. Come on.

    Tina looked around one last time for Bette. It was no surprise that she hadnt shown up. Tina didnt really expect her to. It was time to move on. There was only so long you could fight for someone without getting wounded yourself. Tina followed Jess down the narrow stairs and toward a back door. Jess looked back at Tina before going any further as a way of saying are you ready?. Tina didnt think she was, but maybe it was time to just throw caution to the wind. Tina nodded and Jess opened the door. She led Tina to a queen size bed in the middle of the room. Tina sat down her eyes focused in the floor. Jess kneeled in front of her and placed her two hands on either side of Tinas face.

    Jess: I think your beautiful.

    Tina blushed.

    Tina: Thank you.

    Jess: And I dont know why anyone in his or her right mind would have stood you up tonight. If you were mine, Id never let you out of my sight.

    Tina backed away slowly.

    Tina: How did you know I was stood up?

    Jess: Peggy told me. I hope you dont mind. She really likes you Tina and she was worried for you.

    Tina: Oh.

    Jess: No matter what you feel for this person Tina, you deserve more. You deserve to be catered to like a princess.
