“Really what’s her name?”
“Kit Porter.”
“Kit Porter. I saw her in concert once in San Francisco and fell in love with her music. I have her CD’s. That’s pretty cool having a celebrity in your family.”
“Yeah she’s great.”
“So Kit’s your only family?”
“My only blood relative but I have a few really good friends that I consider family. James is the closest. He’s my assistant and curator at the gallery but he’s more like a brother to me and we have an adoptive mother.”
“You and James?”
“Yes. She’s adopted both of us as part of her family. She’s a wonderful friend and mentor. Her name is Peggy Peabody.”
“Peggy Peabody … head of the Peabody Conglomerate?”
“Yes. Do you know her?”
“No. I mean we’ve never met but Peabody Studios is acquiring Shaolin. I will be working with her daughter Helena Peabody on the merger closing. Are you close to Helena also?
“No we’ve never met in the seven years that I’ve known Peggy. Her daughter doesn’t share the same passion for art so we don’t travel in the same circles besides that she’s always lived in Europe.”
“I haven’t met her yet either. I’ve only seen pictures but we’ve communicated on the phone and via email for several months. She’s very beautiful and she seems really nice. I’m looking forward to working with her. This is a really big deal for Shaolin. Having Peabody backing is going to make us a major player in the movie business. It’ll be great for my career too. As part of the package I’m being promoted to Vice President of Creative Affairs and Project Development.”
“Congratulations.”
“Thank you.”
“So Helena is moving here?”
“That’s the plan at least for a while until the merger is concluded. Maybe I can introduce you if you come to the studio for that tour.”
“I don’t think Helena Peabody would be interested in meeting me but if Valerie agrees to do a show at the gallery I’ll invite Peggy so you’ll definitely have a chance to meet her.”
“Valerie is going to be so excited. I hope she’ll be home soon.”
As if on cue Valerie walks in. “Hey Tina I’m home. “
“We’re in the back yard.”
“Hey. Sorry I’m so late. It took forever to clear that accident. Ms. Porter it’s such a pleasure to meet you.”

What a wonderful chapter! I am interested in discovering if Bette’s psyche has healed from the attack. I guess more will be revealed as she grows closer to Tina and Valerie.
Nice chapter!..Love that Bette has now met Tina and Valerie and she has people to confide in since it seems she has no one close to her around right now

I totally agree with you! I couldn’t have a better adjective to use Bette’s conduct when she was with Jodie as humble. and it was very sad thing.
It was a very nice chapter. I’m glad that Bette met Tina and Valerie. I hope this friendship will help to overcome Bette’s pain.

I accept what you say in your Author’s notes but the last Chapter was too upsetting for me.
I, too hated Jodie in the show and did not like the way Ilene wrote Bette’s character around that relationship. It did not ring true and I didn’t believe Bette would have taken the time she did to split from Jodie nor that she would have taken the Hammer exhibition fiasco lying down.
Loved the update and glad Bette has new friends. Thanks

ok I think I remember this story and it is as good as it was back then….yes I got my meeting between tina and bette and I cant wait to read how their relationship progress
