Chance meeting
“Awesome. You’ll probably get there first. So sorry to leave you stranded Tina. I owe you one.”
“It couldn’t be helped Val. Don’t worry about me just be careful and drive safely. I’ll see you at home.”

Bette and Tina packed up the art and loaded everything into Bette’s SUV then headed to Tina and Val’s home in Santa Monica. When they arrived Tina instructed Bette to back her car into the driveway in front of the detached two car garage that served as Val’s studio. As they carefully unloaded the canvases and easels Bette took a look around and was even more impressed by what she saw. It was tempting to rummage through stacks of paintings but she respected the artist’s space and would wait to be shown around. Once they finished they walked through a breezeway to the beautifully landscaped four bedroom garden home. The interior was immaculate and nicely furnished.
“You two have a beautiful home Tina”
“Thank you. Val and I bought the house together about 10 years ago. We attended the same college. Both of us were from out of state so we shared a dorm room. Over the years we sort of bonded like sisters and since we got along so well it seemed like a good idea to live together after we graduated. Financially it was a good investment because neither of us could afford it on our own. It’s large enough so we each have our own space. I use the extra bedroom as an office and she has the garage for her art studio. It’s worked out well for both of us.”
“Sounds like a nice arrangement.”
“It is. I’m sorry Bette forgive my manners. May I offer you something to drink? We have wine, soft drinks, bottled water, or juice?”
“Water is fine. Thank you.”
Tina got out two bottles of water from the fridge and handed one to Bette. “Here you go. Do you like grilled salmon?”
“Yeah. It’s one of my favorites.”
“Great. We bought some fresh fillets yesterday. I’ll get started on it and prepare the grill while we wait for Valerie.”
“What can I do to help? I’m not much of a cook but I make a pretty mean salad. If you have all the ingredients I can make a mixed green salad with pecans, goat cheese, and honey mustard vinaigrette. “

What a wonderful chapter! I am interested in discovering if Bette’s psyche has healed from the attack. I guess more will be revealed as she grows closer to Tina and Valerie.
Nice chapter!..Love that Bette has now met Tina and Valerie and she has people to confide in since it seems she has no one close to her around right now
Great update.
Great story and writing
I totally agree with you! I couldn’t have a better adjective to use Bette’s conduct when she was with Jodie as humble. and it was very sad thing.
It was a very nice chapter. I’m glad that Bette met Tina and Valerie. I hope this friendship will help to overcome Bette’s pain.
I look forward to the next chapter.
Great, a nice Chapter and the beginnings of an interesting storyline.
I accept what you say in your Author’s notes but the last Chapter was too upsetting for me.
I, too hated Jodie in the show and did not like the way Ilene wrote Bette’s character around that relationship. It did not ring true and I didn’t believe Bette would have taken the time she did to split from Jodie nor that she would have taken the Hammer exhibition fiasco lying down.
Loved the update and glad Bette has new friends. Thanks
Great update!
