    Chapter 10

“I’d like that too Emma. If you’re not with anyone why don’t you join us? We’ve got the best seats in the house.”

“I can see that. I’m here with a colleague and her wife so I was feeling a bit like a third wheel. If you’re sure I’m not intruding I’d love to join you.”

“Please do. You already know Kit so let me introduce you to everyone else.” Kit stood and shook Emma’s hand then moved over so Emma could sit next to Bette. They finished the introductions and ordered a round of drinks before the lights dimmed for Susan Alegrato’s performance. Emma and Bette smiled and stole glances at each other throughout the entire concert which didn’t go unnoticed by Kit and her friends.

After the performance Marina escorted Susan over to the VIP table. Susan’s classical cello was featured on one of Kit’s new releases on the CD, but that wasn’t the only reason Kit asked her to do the intimate performance at the Planet. Neither Bette nor Susan knew that Kit was also planning to play matchmaker between the musician and her sister. It was just as well that she hadn’t said anything. Kit could tell that Susan was enthralled with her beautiful sister, but Emma was the only woman that held Bette’s interest that night.

Emma was the envy of all the women at the club including Susan. She and Bette reminisced, danced, talked and joked. Bette’s throaty laughter could be heard throughout the evening. Her friends and family commented that it was the most relaxed and carefree that Bette had been for a long time; even before the breakup. When Bette and Emma tired of dancing they moved to a quiet corner of the bar to have a drink and talk.

The little that Emma had told Bette about art therapy had her intrigued; but she also found that she was even more fascinated by the doctor herself. For Emma’s part she’d found Bette extremely attractive when they’d met years before but both of them were married and even if there was an attraction neither one was a cheater. Neither woman went into much detail about their respective break-ups, but it was clear that they were both now single, available and interested.

Emma was in her late thirties, a bit older than Bette. She was tall and athletic with dark hair, tanned skin and dazzling green eyes that reflected her mischievous nature as well as her intelligence. Being an alpha herself Bette normally wasn’t sexually attracted to alpha women but Emma’s personality combined just the right balance of alpha female with a charismatic softer side which had Bette captivated. At the end of the evening they exchanged cell phone numbers and made arrangements to have dinner together when Bette returned from New York.

    1. Thanks so much for this chapter Bat; I see here that Bette is still like ‘I have nothing to do with Tina’s problems’. She is a little worry for knowing nothing from her ex, but that’s all. They were together for 7 years, and Bette doesn’t acknowledge any responsibility in their break out (personally I think Bette is in denial), as if everything was just Tina’s doing. I like the possibility of Bette dating a psychologist (she needs help in that department). It’s curious now that I see after ten chapters, on one side Tina feels very guilty, suffocated and alone and in the other side Bette feels the opposite than Tina, a victim, ready to let go and wrapped and protected by her friends. I don’t want to take sides with any of them but I feel a little unfairness in this relationship I don’t know if it is the cause or consequence of their dysfunction or if it is just part of it. Thank you again, I like so much you story, it makes me think on their situation; and I’m very captivated to know where you are taking us, I’m wanting eagerly for your next update.

    2. Hello there BAT,been a long time, glad to see you posting again.Synopsis of what i understand so far,TINA/BETTE are having problems and broke up(not good)TINA then decides not to go the toy route but the real mccoy(so not good)Then she decides to date HENRY(major turn-off)and engages in hide the banana(i’m feeling squeemish)with this guy but pines for BETTE(therapyanyone?)BETTE is still hoping and not hoping to reconsile with her wife(ahemm),so now we have total dysfunction. Can TINA get her self together or will BETTE continue towards moving on?Talking is a little late for BETTE if she wants TINA to listen to what she has to say even if TINA does talk the shame alone of what she has done will drive her further away i think, but your story and like everyone else i too will wait. BE SAFE and hurry back.THANKS,
