(Tina nods) Yeah, Bette’s speaking to her tonight and then I’ll meet her Sunday

Alice raises her eyebrows.

(Alice) Wow, that’s got to be daunting

(Tina sighs) Yeah. I’m actually looking forward to it but I know that it’s a lot for her, so I want to prepare myself for it not going well

Alice nods.

(Alice) It’s a lot, but she’s a great kid. It is exciting, you getting to know her

Tina smiles and then looks at her for a moment.

(Tina) You know, you haven’t asked much about Bette. I thought you’d be full of questions

Alice smiles and looks towards her beer.

(Alice) Well I’m trying to stay out of it

Tina looks at her suspiciously.

(Tina) That’s extremely unlike you. Have you changed a lot in the last 15 years?

Alice laughs and looks over at her.

(Alice) I haven’t changed at all

They smile at each other.

(Alice) This is really fucking difficult for me

Tina laughs and has a sip of her beer.

(Alice sighs) It took me a while to adjust, but I’ve decided that I fucking love seeing you two getting on

Alice shrugs and Tina smiles.

(Alice) And it’s not my job to police your behaviour, or Bette’s

(Tina) Thanks Al

(Alice) As Shane said we’ve said our bit, and now is the time to stay out of it. You two will deal with whatever you need to, and I’m here if you want to talk along the way

Alice shrugs and Tina touches her affectionately on the shoulder.

(Tina) Thank you

They sit together in silence for a moment.

(Alice) And that means I’ve got you for the weekend then?

Tina looks at her suspiciously.

(Tina) I guess

(Alice smiles) Tomorrow night. We’re going out

Tina smiles.

(Tina) Sure, that sounds great

(Alice smiles) Yeah? I usually have to twist your arm to come out with me

(Tina) Really?

(Alice) Yeah, you’re a busy woman these days, and not super keen on the club scene anymore

(Tina smiles) Well, I am now. I think it sounds fun

(Alice smiles) Oh it will be

Tina laughs.

(Alice) Well I’ll speak to Shane and Dana, and Helena too. Everyone’s keen to see you. Bette needs to learn to share

Tina laughs.

(Tina) Sounds great Al

Tina’s phone beeps and she reads a message.

(Tina) That’s Bette. I might give her a call and then turn in for the night

(Alice nods) OK

Tina moves to her bedroom and sits down on the bed, placing a call to Bette.

(Bette) Hey Tee

(Tina) Hey baby, how’s everything there?

(Bette sighs) Well I’ve told her. She’s in her room now, I don’t think she wants to talk right now

(Tina) How did she take it?

Bette sighs.

(Bette) I don’t think she really believed me. She kept looking at me like I was crazy

Tina smiles.

(Tina) Well, it certainly is crazy, I’ll give her that

(Bette) She asked to stay at a friend’s house tomorrow night, I think probably to talk it through with them

(Tina) Well that’s good she has someone to talk to, it’s a lot to take in

(Bette sighs) I sort of wish she’d talk to me, but yes, I’m glad she has that support

They sit in silence for a moment.

(Tina) Does that mean you’re free tomorrow night?

(Bette smiles) Yes, did you want to do something?

(Tina smiles) Absolutely, you can come out with Alice and me

Bette doesn’t immediately respond and Tina smiles.

(Tina) Please come baby, I really want to see you and I don’t think I can get out of it now. Alice is excited

(Bette sighs) I want to see you too. I was thinking something more like dinner though, or a quiet drink

(Tina) Sorry baby

(Bette) Well where are you going?

(Tina) I don’t know, some club I’ve obviously never heard of

Bette groans and rubs her forehead.

(Bette) Tee you might feel 15 years younger but I certainly don’t

(Tina smiles) Please come baby

Bette sighs.

(Bette) Well, lucky for you my wanting to see you is outweighing my lack of enthusiasm for this idea

Tina smiles and leans back on the bed.

(Tina) Hmmm, so you miss me then?

Bette smiles.

(Bette) Tee

(Tina smiles) I think you miss me

Bette smiles and shakes her head.

(Bette) Goodnight Tee

(Tina smiles) Goodnight baby. See you tomorrow night
