    Chapter 9

The next morning, Tina wakes in Bette’s spare bedroom and smiles as she takes in the familiar setting. Having come to bed late and tired the night before she glances around the room, taking in her surroundings properly for the first time. She smiles as she examines Bette’s choice of artwork on the walls and closes her eyes and breathes in the familiar scents of their home together. She sits up and runs her hand over the bedspread that she herself had picked up from the markets in Topanga in the early days of their living together. A bedspread she recalled Bette not being particularly fond of.

She walks out of her room and hears Bette in the kitchen, and so makes her way there. She pauses in the doorway and smiles as she watches Bette checking on a coffee brewing on the stove top.

    (Tina) Hi

Bette turns and smiles back at her, taking a moment to take in the image of Tina wearing a pair of her pyjamas.

    (Bette) Hi

Tina moves further into the kitchen.

(Tina) Sorry, I didn’t mean to sleep so late

Tina smiles as she sits down at the island bench.

(Tina) In my defence I have no idea how to set an alarm on my phone

(Bette smiles) It’s fine. You slept well?

(Tina) So well. I haven’t been sleeping at all at Alice’s

Bette nods as she pours her a coffee and places it in front of her on the bench. Tina smiles her thanks and then looks up and considers her for a moment.

(Tina) So do you not really work anymore?

    Bette laughs.

(Bette) There’s nothing particularly pressing at the gallery this week. Anything that really needed doing I managed yesterday, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to take some leave

(Tina) So, we can spend the day together again?

(Bette smiles) If you’d like to

(Tina smiles) I would like to

Bette sits down opposite her and Tina has a sip of coffee and continues looking at her over her mug.

(Tina) Can I choose what we do this time?

    Bette looks back at her.

(Bette) I’d say yes but the expression on your face right now is a concern to me

    1. I am in love with this story!

It’s good they have both fond and happy memories.

Thought that maybe Tina being in her own home triggered some memories but it didn’t. Her old wedding ring alone in the top drawer, hmmm, maybe Tina still held hope out that one day they would find their way to each other.

Bette snucking in Tina’s bedroom, she can’t hold herself back.

      Great chapter, thank you!

    2. I am very much enjoying this story. It is very creative. Tina starts out so angry, but we all know to be that angry means there is another emotion rolling around.

Rather interesting that old Tina had her wedding ring in the side draw. Telling for sure.

    3. I hope Tina isn’t too traumatized when her memory returns. I think that they lost touch of the good things in their relationship. Bette sneaking into the bed is precious. Alice said that she trusts them right? Maybe not remembering the bad stuff is not so bad? PPS
