    Chapter 11

(Angelica) Do you mind what we watch?

Bette smiles and shakes her head.

    (Bette) No, you choose

As Angelica scrolls through the options Tina approaches and places a water for each of them on the coffee table, and Bette smiles up at her.

    (Bette) Thanks

Tina smiles at her and turns back to return to the kitchen. Bette’s eyes follow Tina as she makes her way out of the room, and Angelica watches Bette closely.

(Angelica) So you really like her huh?

Bette raises her eyebrows and looks back to Angelica. They hold each other’s gaze for a moment.

(Bette) Um. I don’t really know how to answer that

(Angelica shrugs) You don’t really need to. It’s obvious

Bette smiles. She watches Angelica for a moment before speaking.

    (Bette) Angelica…

    (Angelica) Angie

Bette raises her eyebrows and smiles.

(Bette) Angie. With where I’m at right now, with my memory, well, in my mind your Mom and I are still married

    Bette shrugs.

(Bette) So that’s how I feel

Angelica nods. Bette leans forward and picks up her glass from the coffee table, having a sip and then refocusing back on Angelica.

(Bette) Do you know much about back then?

(Angelica) From when you were together?

    (Bette nods) Yes

    Angelica shrugs.

    (Angelica) I guess, a bit

(Bette smiles) What do you know?

(Angelica) How you met. Dates you went on. Holidays. Your wedding. How Mom proposed to you

Bette smiles and looks at her for a moment.

(Bette) Sounds like you know a lot

Angelica looks over at her and shrugs.

(Angelica) I know you loved each other more than two people ever have

Bette raises her eyebrows and gives a small laugh. She looks at Angelica for a moment and then furrows her brow and nods towards the kitchen.

(Bette) Did your Mom tell you that?

    Angelica shakes her head.

(Angelica) No, she doesn’t talk much about that stuff. You told me

Bette studies her for a moment as she takes this in.

    (Bette) I told you?

    Angelica nods.

    (Angelica) Yeah

(Bette) Did I tell you all of those stories?

    (Angelica nods) Yeah

Bette looks away for a moment, gathering her thoughts, and Angelica looks over at her.

(Angelica) Has everyone told you that you hate her?

Bette looks back at her and raises her eyebrows.

    (Bette) Ah, well…

Bette pauses, unsure of what to say.

    (Angelica) You don’t

Bette continues looking at her and Angelica shakes her head.

    (Angelica) You don’t hate her

    She shrugs.

(Angelica) That’s why I’ve been wanting us all to hang out more. You’d like it too

Tina enters the room, having finished cleaning up in the kitchen. She sits down next to Angelica and places a bowl of popcorn on the table. She glances between them and furrows her brow.

(Tina) What are you two talking about?

Angelica responds casually as she reaches for the popcorn.

    (Angelica) Camp

Bette smiles as she watches Angelica, and Tina looks between the two of them suspiciously.

    1. What an interesting turn in this very intriguing story, katynd. Angie’s observations and what she knows about both her parents’ recent and past feelings to each other are important pieces of the puzzle. Hopefully, we’ll find out what really happened between Bette and Tina before the accident and if there’s a chance those hurts can eventually heal and they can rebuild their present-day relationship. I loved Bette and Angie’s wordless but very emotional reunion and Tina joining the emotional family hug.❤ Thank you so much for this lovely, well-written gem, katynd!❤ I don’t even remember the last time I was able to leave a comment to any of your stories but please know that I always read your stories and look out for a new chapter. Before I checked out this latest chapter, I was enjoying rereading “Political Persuasion”. God, I love that story!❤ So many thanks again and enjoy the rest of the day, katynd!:)

      • Couldn’t have said it better!

I’m dying to know what happened that Bette is supposed to hate Tina.

Although Bette seems to hate Tina for a long time if we have to believe Tina and their friends, she told Angie a lot about their early years, so the love has been buried deep but never went away.

I really hope that when Bette get her memory back they can rebuild their friendship and their relationship.

    2. I didn’t expect that relavation at all! Wow. So Tina keeps her true feelings to herself because she thinks Bette doesn’t like her, Bette tells everyone that she hates Tina. Seems like Angie and Bette have a lot to talk about. I hope that Angie will give Bette more insights to why she “officially” pretends to have moved on from Tina. Maybe she can tell her about her absent girlfriend as well.
Angie could be the key to change her mother’s relationship for the better. Love it!

I’m repeating mysef but this version is so so so good. Really can’t wait for the next chapter.
