    Chapter 11 – Wednesday – Shopping Day

Angie:  That’s a good idea.  Maybe we can do some zooming and get to know each other before we actually are in the dorm room.

Tina:  Yes, that would be a good idea. You do not have long, so you need to get on that. Move in day is going to be busy and your room is going to be crowded. Our objective is to get you in and organized as quickly as we can. Hopefully your roommate will arrive later and have the space and time to get her things organized. Oh, and Bette is going to invite Mary to come with us. Are you okay with that?

Angie:  Really?  Oh, that is wonderful. Yes, I would love to have Grandma Mary there to help me move in to my dorm room. We haven’t been able to see her much this year. And that would be great.

Tina:  Well, Bette wants to ask her because she did not have this experience with either her or Paris.  She wants Mary to have that time with you as well.

Angie:  Yeah… I would like that too.

The food arrived and they ate their breakfast and talked about the shopping they hoped to accomplish today. They decided to go to Saks Fifth Avenue to get some dress clothes and then to Macy’s to get the casual clothes and shoes.  Tina had hoped that they would be finished by lunch. That way, Tina could pack the suite cases with Bette’s clothes and their jewelry. She also wanted to pack some boxes with some knick knacks around the house. She hoped that Angie could attack her desk. They would also do some laundry so they would not go home with a suitcase of dirty clothes. She also wanted to prepare a room for Mary when they came back at the end of August.  She would get Bette to engage a moving company and reserve a storage facility in either Santa Monica or in Malibu Beach.

Tina and Angie finished their breakfast and walked back to the apartment. They were greeted by the doorman and welcomed back.  They all like the Kennard-Porter family and were really not happy that they were moving to California. They had watched Angie and Daniel grow into polite and considerate young people and all the doorman felt it their duty to keep a watchful eye on them and protect them when they could. Many had commented that they wish their own children had the manners that these two had.
