    (Bette smiles) I’ve heard about it, I meant to try and arrange it but time got away (Andrew) Well I can’t go, the ticket’s yours if you want it (Bette) Tonight? Well actually I’m supposed to… Andrew interrupts her and keeps speaking distractedly as he responds to a text, tapping away on his cell in

    (Bette smiles) I’ve heard about it, I meant to try and arrange it but time got away

    (Andrew) Well I can’t go, the ticket’s yours if you want it

    (Bette) Tonight? Well actually I’m supposed to…

    Andrew interrupts her and keeps speaking distractedly as he responds to a text, tapping away on his cell in the doorway.

    (Andrew) Tina will be glad to have the company. She’s always dragging me to these things and I’m not sure she’s even going to believe me that something has come up. It’ll soften the blow having you there with her

    Bette looks at him uncertainly for a moment, making a decision.

    (Bette) Well maybe check with her first, but yes if she’s happy to go together then I’ll go

    Andrew waves a hand dismissively, still focused on his cell.

    (Andrew) I’m sure she’ll be fine with it. I saw you chatting at the benefit, you’ll have a great time I’m sure

    He looks up at her and smiles.

    (Andrew) Anyway, better run. I’ll have her call you to organise it

     

    Later, Tina is in her office at the university  and places a call to Bette who also answers in her office.

    (Tina) So, it seems Andrew has arranged another date for us this evening

    Bette smiles.

    (Bette) Seems so

    (Tina) You’re under no obligation, I’m not sure why he felt the need to palm me off onto someone really. If you’re uncomfortable you can just have the tickets

    (Bette) Well we’re both obviously interested to go, I’m happy to go together if you are

    (Tina) Are you sure?

    (Bette) Yes, of course

    (Tina smiles) OK, great. I’m relieved, it would have killed me to give you the tickets

    Bette smiles.

    (Bette) Meet you out the front at 7?

    (Tina) Can you meet any earlier? We could have a drink before?

    (Bette smiles) Yes, that sounds good

     

    Later, Bette is driving and answers her cell.

    (Bette) Hey

    (Alice) Hey, I’m just calling to wish you luck on your date tonight

    Bette is confused for a moment, before realising what Alice is referring to.

    (Bette) Ah, yes, thank you

    Alice frowns.

    (Alice) Why are you being weird? You’re still going aren’t you?

    (Bette) Well, actually something has come up but I’m sure we can reschedule

    3. Another post, thank you. So the angst begins. Why is Tina going to marry someone she doesn’t love? What is the hold between her and Andrew? Damn, that fine Bette Porter is getting her heart broken. I don’t know. This is the least likely Tibette match up yet! PPS
