(Bette) Angie?

Tina smiles and raises her eyebrows as she focuses back on the screen.

(Tina) I guess so

They look to each other and both smile. Tina hands her back the phone, and Bette shakes her head.

(Bette) I guess she must really want the three of us to spend time together

Tina leans on the doorframe and smiles.

(Tina) She’s not here. She asked to stay at Kit’s tonight

Bette gives a small laugh and they smile at each other.

(Bette) Is this underhandedness from you or from me do you think?

Tina laughs and raises her eyebrows.

(Tina) I’m not sure it’s either, I can’t remember us ever being so cunning

They smile at each other.

(Bette) Maybe it’s Alice’s influence then

Tina laughs and nods.

(Tina) Maybe

They continue smiling at each other for a moment.

(Bette) Well, I can go. I know you didn’t really want to do this

Tina looks back towards the kitchen, thinking for a moment. She turns back to Bette and smiles and shrugs.

(Tina) You’re here now. Stay for dinner, if you’d like to

They smile at each other and Bette nods.

(Bette) I’d like that

Tina takes a step back and Bette moves into the house. Tina raises her eyebrows as she closes the door behind them.

(Tina) And I’ll deal with our daughter in the morning

They move through the house together, and Bette slows her pace and takes in the space as they approach the kitchen.

(Bette) Tee, your house is beautiful

Tina looks over at her.

(Tina) Oh. Of course you haven’t been here yet

Tina watches her as Bette continues to glance around the room.

(Tina) It’s a bit different to the house we shared

(Bette) I suppose. But you always brought a warmth to our house. It’s missing from mine now, and I can see it everywhere here

Bette looks over at her and shrugs.

(Bette) I don’t really like my house now without that

Tina smiles at her for a moment and then places her hand on Bette’s lower back and nods towards the kitchen.

(Tina) Come and sit down, I’m almost finished with dinner

Bette nods and they make their way over.
