Chapter 18 – Home Again
Bette and Tina began to awaken early in the morning. At least they felt it was early. They cuddled for a few minutes and then decided to get up and get ready for their day. They had a leisurely shower and then dressed in velour jogging outfits and sneakers so they would be comfortable on the plane ride home. They packed their bags and headed down to the restaurant to at least have some coffee.
Bette: You know, we do not have to wait on the others to have our breakfast. If you are hungry, we can go ahead and start our meal and they can join us when they get here.
Tina: Let’s just have a cup of coffee and if no one has arrived by the time we are finished, we will go ahead and eat.
Bette: Okay.
Bette and Tina were about half way through their coffee when Angie and Suzanne showed up dressed in jeans. Jim Laney and Dot were right behind them. Bette and Tina stood up and greeted them.
Bette: Good morning. You all look chipper this morning.
Angie: Yeah, I am hungry this morning and I can’t imagine why after having that wonderful dinner last night.
Tina: Angie, let me introduce you. This is Jim Laney and his wife Dot. This is our daughter Angie Kennard-Porter and her roommate Suzanne Hale.
Jim: Well, I knew instantly who Angie is. She looks a lot like Bette. And there are several photos of her around your home. It is very nice to meet you, Angie. Nice to meet you, Suzanne.
Angie: Nice to meet you. I understand that you are an interior designer?
Jim: Yes, I am and your moms have been keeping me busy for the last few months with your new home in Santa Monica.
Angie: Yes, they have told me. And I can’t wait to see what you have done with the place. The last time I saw it, it was empty and in bad need of a coat of paint.
Dot: Well, it’s a far different looking place now. You will have to let us know what you think. After all, we are about to put together a home for you, as I understand it.
