Chapter 19 – The Wilkins and the Prestons

Bette:  I’ll make us a cup.  Hazelnut creamer?

    Tina:  Oh, yeah.

They got through their breakfast and decided to eat at the counter. They were both smiles and were ready to eat.

Tina and Bette discussed the plans for the afternoon. James and Lisa would be arriving about 3:00 pm and have a swim in the pool. Paris and Jeanette would arrive about 5:00 and they hoped to have dinner around 6:00 pm. Lisa and the kids after dinner would go to the cabana. She would settle them with a movie and then to bed around 8:00 pm.  Bette, Paris and James would have their meeting in the study around 7:00 pm hopefully to finished by 8:00. Then they would leave it up to James as to what he wanted to do next. Bette, Tina, Paris, Jeanette, Mary and Margaret would consider taking a night swim to relax just before retiring for the evening. Paris and Jeanette would stay in the guest room off the kitchen. James, Lisa, Jason, and Lillabette would stay in the cabana. The children would be the first to use the Murphy bed while James and Lisa would occupy the bedroom.

Tina: I am preparing a salmon dinner. I’m going to have some seasoned rice, broccoli and some cole slaw. I am also going to prepare a fruit salad. Do you think the kids will eat those vegetables?

Bette:  James tells me that Lisa is very health conscious with the kids. We may need to make some kind of cheese sauce or something for the broccoli. We might substitute some apple sauce for the cole slaw. But we need to give them a try. Why don’t you call Lisa and see if they will eat that? Your salmon is so good. I cannot imagine them turning that down. Our kids never did.

Tina: Well, everyone is different. I could fix them something else. I have some chicken fingers I could make and I could make some air fried potatoes.

Bette: Well, check with Lisa. You want me to start making the cole slaw?

Tina: Yes, please. I’ll start on the dressing. Let me start the rice first. I think we have some of that chicken and vegetable broth to make the rice with. I want to go ahead and marinate the salmon as well.
