Bette smiles at her, and then shrugs.

(Bette) I agree there will be times we’ll have to miss things, I don’t expect you to be able to attend every opening I have either. But whenever I can show up for you I will

She shrugs.

(Bette) And my dinner tonight just wasn’t important enough to me to miss out on supporting you here tonight

Tina examines her for a moment.

(Tina) Were you able to reschedule it at least?

(Bette smiles) Not yet

Tina raises an eyebrow.

(Tina) So managing it means cancelling?

Bette shrugs, and Tina looks at her for a moment and furrows her brow.

(Tina) Baby when I said I didn’t mind, I meant it. I need you to know that. I wasn’t testing you or anything like that

Bette smiles and draws her closer.

(Bette) I know that

(Tina) We’re doing things differently this time around, and that goes for me too. If I really needed you to be here tonight I’d tell you that

She raises her eyebrows.

(Tina) Even if I understood why you couldn’t be here but I was irrationally upset about it, I’d tell you that too

Bette smiles, and Tina shakes her head slowly.

(Tina) I don’t want to play games with you. You don’t have to guess what I’m thinking

Bette nods.

(Bette) You’ll tell me?

(Tina smiles) I’ll tell you

They smile at each other, and Tina tucks a curl behind Bette’s ear.

(Tina) But thank you. It’s not necessary, but I appreciate you being here baby

Bette smiles and nods. She then raises her eyebrows and looks to the crowded room.

(Bette) So, by the look of things I assume I’ll be standing at the back?

(Tina smiles) No, you’ll sit with me

She nods towards Casey who is busily ushering people around in the front row.

(Tina) Casey’s already onto it

They smile at each other and Tina reaches for her hand, and they walk together to their seats.

The screening and the Q&A conclude, and Tina remains near the stage speaking with some of the many people vying for her attention. Bette stands to one side of the stage smiling as she watches her, and Tina looks to her and meets her eyes. They share an affectionate look and Bette then nods towards their friends, who are making their way towards the exit. Tina smiles and nods, and their eyes remain on each other as Bette begins to move away.
