Chapter 21 – The end and the beginning

”It was fun! We walked on the beach, were in the street cinema… by the way, if we’re talking about Jordi. I invited her to the party tomorrow. I should have asked both of you first, but it was spontaneous, so… do you mind?”

”Of course we don’t mind, it’s all right. Well done for inviting her”

”Yeah, it’s fine. Ange, about tomorrow night… how will it be held?”

Bette’s voice was calm, but, as Tina usually calls it,”responsibly questioning.”

After this question, Angie also became a little more serious and straightened her back a little.  They were so much like Bette in that – when it came to something they were responsible for, they both became as businesslike as possible. She went to the phone gallery to show Bette and Tina a few photos – name cards, menus, sample serving, decor, and all that sort of stuff.

”Everyone already knows that they need to be at Bel-Air at 7 p.m.”

Angie was showing pictures and talking at the same time.

”We’re going to be in their garden, they’ve done amazing decor, so… Shauna sent me some pictures”

”It’s really beautiful. What about Peggy? Will she be in LA?”

”Yes, I called her and our conversation lasted for forty minutes, from her there were so many questions about how I was doing…” Angie smiled and looked up from the phone screen to her mom.

”She adores you. It’s sad that you don’t have much contact with her anymore”

Bette was especially warm to Peggy Peabody and they had a lot of contact when they lived in New York. Now, of course, this communication has been greatly reduced.

”Well, we don’t break contact anyway, even though we rarely talk. So, about the music. Remember Simon Green?”

Bette and Tina looked at each other and smiled.

”You both seem to remember. He’s in LA now, Alice called him up, and he’ll be happy to play a little dj-set as a present”

”Oh, sweetie, that’s great news. This is some kind of return to the two thousandth”

Bette, Tina and the rest of their gang once had a very good relationship with DJ Bonobo. Besides, Alice been dating him for a while. This was before Angie was born, no gay party in Los Angeles was complete without our favorite gang, and Simon Green was a very young, beginner, but fast-moving musician. It was the year 2000. He was now living in England, but the circumstances were so coincidental that he was now in California.

    1. Very nice ending to the story…. a twenty-fifth anniversary party…. a honeymoon suite and a trip to Switzerland on Monday…. wow… very nice….

Looks like things are going well for the family…. they have a good foundation on going forward…. Angie is over the troublemaker and attracted to Jordi….. just hope this does not disrupt her plans for college and a future career.

Love at a young age is sincere and passionate but not always the best judgement. Angie will make her own decisions, but if you she puts going to the best school which fulfills her goals on the line as a result, both Tina and Bette will not be happy. I wish them all the best. It appears that many of their problems can be diminished with good ole fashion conversation.

Thank you for your lovely story…. Happy New Year….

      • I agree with Martha. You tackled a tough subject matter and brought them out the other side in a healthy way. Angie planned a lovely party for her parents, Glad Eddie is yesterday’s news. Good job!

    2. Hi Ada,

      First, Happy New Year!

This was a great story to read and i am very happy with the end. I didn’t always comment but read every chapter. It was quite the journey but they got through it to the other end and ended it with a lovely party organized by Angie.

And the finish touch a second honeymoon to Switserland, a cabin in the mountains.

The eyes speak volumes, especially Bette’s eyes, windows into her soul, i quote these lines because i truly love it:

“Admiration, adoration, reverence, tenderness, care, awe, trust, infinite gratitude and something else that cannot be expressed in words, that can only be seen in the eyes of a person who unconditionally and endlessly loves you.

They continued to look at each other, silently expressing all the feelings that fill them now. It was such a powerful eye contact, such an emotional outburst, a declaration of love that was felt in every cell of the body. A conversation of two hearts, when any words are superfluous.”

      Beautiful!

Hope you will be back with another story! I wish you joy, health, inspiration and love for this New Year! Stay save!
