Chapter 22
(Bette) Speaking of dates, who’s Renee by the way? I’ve been meaning to ask you
Tina looks at her and they smile at each other.
(Tina) It wasn’t really a thing. But I’ve called her and we’ve had a conversation
Tina shrugs and Bette nods. Tina glances at her as she picks up her wine glass.
(Tina) And Naomi?
(Bette laughs) I think you took care of Naomi
Tina smiles.
(Bette) But yes, we’ve had a conversation too
They smile at each other and both have a sip of wine.
(Bette) Did you tell the others that we were going out tonight?
Tina shakes her head.
(Tina) No, not deliberately though, it’s just been a busy week
Bette nods.
(Tina) What about you?
(Bette) No, I haven’t spoken to anyone either
(Tina) Well I’m sure Alice will be disappointed we’ve gotten this far without any more assistance from her
(Bette smiles) I’m sure she’s plotting something as we speak
Tina nods and raises her eyebrows.
(Tina) I overheard her talking to Shane about something to do with a boat
(Bette laughs) Jesus
Tina shrugs and they smile at each other.
(Bette) Well, thankfully you remembered everything, and that gave me a chance
Bette smiles at her.
(Bette) And we’re here now and can avoid all of her crazy antics
Bette has a sip of wine and Tina examines her for a moment.
(Tina) You always had a chance, even if I didn’t remember
Bette looks over at her and holds her gaze for a moment.
(Bette) I did?
(Tina nods) Yes
They smile at each other and Tina reaches towards her and takes her hand.
(Tina) You may have had a bit more ground to cover, but you’d have managed it
Bette looks down at their hands for a moment before raising her eyes to Tina’s.
(Bette) I wouldn’t have given up, either way
Tina smiles.
(Tina) No? You would have kept trying?
(Bette nods) Forever
Tina smiles and squeezes her hand.
(Bette) I’m glad you remember though
(Tina smiles) Me too
They finish their meals and walk back to Bette’s car together, both reaching for the other’s hand as they leave the restaurant.
(Bette) Your therapist must be very relieved you’re back

Such a wonderful and creative story. The sadness comes from the situation. You have captured their feelings so well, Tina’s past self was able to articulate her present self so well. And Bette, well, what a difficult situation and what a realization that she came to thanks to the past Tina. Bette needed the motivation the understanding to fight for the present Tina and the past Tina reminded her so well of their love for each other.. Enjoying this story very much, cant wait for the final chapter and what you have for us next.

A most creative and credible story written about the background of the split and reconciliation of this couple, notwithstanding the magic of hypnosis :) Eager for the finale, and hopeful to find what you may next craft after tales of a multiverse, travelogue, DC politics, and a blonde sitting at the bar (!)
Very nice first date after finding out that Tina remembers. Tina’s suspicion of that Bette loves the old Tina verses the now Tina seems strange in a way but normal in another. Strange in that both are the same person. Normal in that the 2002 Tina was the original that Bette fell in love with many years ago and the now had much different experiences. Bette’s response was absolutely perfect.
I am a little concerned about these two in that they still need to sort through all the baggage and determine what needs to be addressed and what has been resolved. There are still residual feelings and obstacles which need to be resolved. It is obvious that the want to get back together, But a few romps in the hay will not resolve everything. It will take time and communication and understanding to put that to rest and move on with their lives.
Good story… look forward to the next (final) chapter.
Hi katynd. Thank you for this very unique story. It was very well-written and entertaining. I did feel heartbroken for Bette in the previous chapter after she visited Tina at work and she was so dismissive and acted as if she didn’t remember. I’m glad you turned it around in the next chapter that she was faking but still it was cruel. I was thinking it would have been nice for Tina to write Bette a letter while she was her 2002 self so that in the case she didn’t remember at least Bette would have known that the feelings were genuine and what Tina felt and said in her 2002 version was real. Anyway you did a great job in their conversations, expressing their feelings and working their way back together. It was a nice way to end it and looking forward to the final chapter.
