    Chapter 22

(Tina) Well, I guess you did always like when I was jealous

(Bette smiles) Mmmm, I still do

They make the drive together back to Tina’s house and Bette pulls into the driveway. Tina gathers her handbag and turns to her.

(Tina) Well, it’s not so late. Come in for a wine?

    (Bette smiles) Sure

They walk in together and make their way to the living room, settling together on the couch with a glass of wine. They sit close together, Bette leaning back and Tina sitting with her body turned towards her, leaning an elbow on the back of the couch with her legs tucked under. Bette glances around at her surroundings as she has a sip of wine.

(Bette) I like spending time here. It’s always seemed strange to me to not know Angie’s other home

Tina smiles sadly over at her and gently runs her fingers through Bette’s hair.

(Tina) That always seemed strange to me too. I liked that I could picture her at your house, and I imagined that was hard for you

Bette looks over at her for a moment and then smiles, and Tina looks back at her.

    (Tina) What?

Bette smiles and shakes her head.

(Bette) I just never imagined you considered me at all. Certainly not my feelings

Tina leans her head to one side as she looks at her, continuing to gently play with her hair.

(Tina) Well I hope by now you know that’s not the case

They smile at each other. Tina has a sip of wine and Bette casually places her hand on Tina’s thigh. They sit in comfortable silence for a moment and Bette then looks over at her.

(Bette) You referenced the kissing earlier, between us when you were still in 2002

    Tina looks over at her.

(Bette) Are you not angry about that? I thought you might be

Tina has a sip of wine and then looks back at her.

(Tina) Well, now that you mention it, you did get a bit carried away

Bette cringes and looks over at her.

(Bette) I am sorry about that

Tina raises an eyebrow and Bette cringes again.

(Bette) It’s not an excuse but I really feel that overall I showed a lot of restraint

Such a wonderful and creative story. The sadness comes from the situation. You have captured their feelings so well, Tina’s past self was able to articulate her present self so well. And Bette, well, what a difficult situation and what a realization that she came to thanks to the past Tina. Bette needed the motivation the understanding to fight for the present Tina and the past Tina reminded her so well of their love for each other.. Enjoying this story very much, cant wait for the final chapter and what you have for us next.

    2. A most creative and credible story written about the background of the split and reconciliation of this couple, notwithstanding the magic of hypnosis :) Eager for the finale, and hopeful to find what you may next craft after tales of a multiverse, travelogue, DC politics, and a blonde sitting at the bar (!)

    3. Very nice first date after finding out that Tina remembers. Tina’s suspicion of that Bette loves the old Tina verses the now Tina seems strange in a way but normal in another. Strange in that both are the same person. Normal in that the 2002 Tina was the original that Bette fell in love with many years ago and the now had much different experiences. Bette’s response was absolutely perfect.

I am a little concerned about these two in that they still need to sort through all the baggage and determine what needs to be addressed and what has been resolved. There are still residual feelings and obstacles which need to be resolved. It is obvious that the want to get back together, But a few romps in the hay will not resolve everything. It will take time and communication and understanding to put that to rest and move on with their lives.

Good story… look forward to the next (final) chapter.

    4. Hi katynd. Thank you for this very unique story. It was very well-written and entertaining. I did feel heartbroken for Bette in the previous chapter after she visited Tina at work and she was so dismissive and acted as if she didn’t remember. I’m glad you turned it around in the next chapter that she was faking but still it was cruel. I was thinking it would have been nice for Tina to write Bette a letter while she was her 2002 self so that in the case she didn’t remember at least Bette would have known that the feelings were genuine and what Tina felt and said in her 2002 version was real. Anyway you did a great job in their conversations, expressing their feelings and working their way back together. It was a nice way to end it and looking forward to the final chapter.
