Chapter 23 – The Wedding
Angie: Glad to do it.
Angie picked up two bouquets; one for the bride and one for Tina and went out the door. Bette went back to looking at the dress. She then went and found the veil which was of the same lace as the dress. She was draping it over the back side of Paris’s head and arranging it to hang perfectly down her back. And there was another knock on the door.
Bette: I hope that is Mary.
Bette opened the door to find that it was Marilyn Stockman Peabody. Bette hugged her and asked her in.
Marilyn: I hate to disturb you, but I thought I would confirm what you wanted in the way of ceremony. How are you doing Paris? You look absolutely beautiful.
Paris: Well, I’m nervous and excited and glad that this day has finally arrived.
Marilyn: Okay, I’m going to do an introduction, then I am going to do the standard vows, then we will have the exchange of rings and then you two will say your personal vows and light a unity candle. I will then pronounce you wife and wife or would you rather have spouse and spouse?
Bette: The rings! Oh shit, I didn’t give Angie the rings for Jeanette to give you. Damn it. Where is my head.
Marilyn: We haven’t started the ceremony. Give them to her when she arrives before they start up the aisle.
Bette: Yeah…. Yeah. I can do that.
Marilyn: Now Paris? Wife and wife or spouse and spouse. And how do you want me to introduce you as far as last name?
Paris: I want wife and wife and as to last name? Just introduce us as Paris and Jeanette Miller-Southerland.
Marilyn: Paris, you look beautiful. Relax and everything will go well. If either of you make a mistake, don’t worry about it. When it’s over, you will still be married, I promise.
Marilyn walked out the door. A couple of minutes later, Mary arrived. Bette was glad she was there. She brought her into the room and she was quickly in tears to see her younger daughter in her bridal gown.
Bette: Mom, we need for you to walk Paris down the aisle? Do you think you can do that?
