Chapter 25 – The Designer and One more Talk with Angie

Jim:  Oh, I understand. Would you be available later this week to go over the outdoor recommendations?  I want to go ahead and get that ordered as I believe it will take a few weeks to manufacture and ship. I would love for it to be in place when you get ready to actually move in. Or at least within a week or so of you moving in. And I will be ordering the furniture for the sun room as well. I am thinking that pale green color for the chairs sounds like a nice choice. But this will be where you have most of your family meals, so it’s important to get this one right. The chairs will be a little more upright for eating than the chairs outside which are designed for lounging and relaxing.

Tina:  Oh, yes. And that should be a table for eight. Any more than that, we would move to the formal dining room.

Jim:  Okay, let’s go through some swatches for the outdoor areas and you tell me what groupings you like. And more important what you don’t like. Now the final selection may be a little different than the swatches shown.  This is just for me to get an idea what you are attracted to and what your preferences are.

Jim showed three different board with several groupings of fabric samples. Bette and Tina both zeroed in on that which appealed to them the most and they both seemed to reject those which Bette referred to as circus tent colors and those which were dark. He then showed them a variety of outdoor furniture styles of which Bette and Tina agreed on one they both liked.

Next Jim started with boards of fabrics for each room in the colors that they had emailed him the previous morning. He asked them to pick out two that they liked the most from the groupings of swatches. Once they did that. He brought out the paint chips that would match those fabrics and asked them to choose. Bette and Tina were having fun and loved the process. They agreed on most of the rooms and compromised on the ones they did not. The final selection was to be the master bedroom. Tina wanted some jewel tones in the fabrics where Bette was not so sure about them. Bette wanted a light décor which would inspire rest and comfort. Jim pointed out a group of swatches which included some lavenders, purples, greens, yellows, gray colors and even some blues. Tina had not paid attention to those swatches but really liked them.  She and Bette agreed that that would be the preferred fabrics and colors. Jim then showed them the matching paint swatches and they picked a blue gray color which they thought they would be very happy with.  Jim was thrilled that they came to their decisions so quickly and so amicably.
