    Chapter 26 – A Day to Review

Bette:  Come on… let’s go have some coffee and sit at the dining table and go through these lists.

They hurried down the stairs, carrying the dirty laundry. Tina worked on the coffee and Bette started the laundry.  They retrieved their laptops and began to review the list. They began with Angie and getting her to school. They had checked off everything except for the “leaving the nest party” and the packing everything in New York and getting it transported to New Haven. They quickly went over those lists and added the assembly of two bicycles, the assembly of the clothing racks, and the grocery shopping which would occur in New Haven. They discussed inviting Susanne Hale and Mary being with them at the hotel on the Saturday night. There were no more hotel rooms available, so Susanne would share a room with Angie and Mary would share a room with Daniel. The rooms had two double beds in each room, so they should be comfortable. If Susanne declined, Mary would share the room with Angie. Tina approved that plan.

They then went over Daniel’s list and getting him back to school. Bette had submitted all the paperwork Ms. Miller had requested and had a confirmation that Daniel’s file was complete. He had all his uniforms and some of his supplies. He had his music instruments and his lessons were scheduled. If there were anything he needed, Bette would do what was necessary the first week of school.

The next list they reviewed was Bette’s’ list to start her job. Everything was complete. She had enough of the lectures complete to get her through September. She would work on the test and the balance of the lecture during her time at the office. She felt she was in good shape. I just needed to take her work and resource books in on the first day of school. She did need to get a parking sticker for her car so that she could park in the faculty parking area without difficulty. But she felt that she was ready at least for September.

The next list was Tina’s list to get her started in her new painting profession. Since they had hired Jim to acquire the furnishing for the office, all she needed to do was to acquire the supplies, canvases, brushes, music and music delivery system, the computer and printing equipment, the scaffolding, ladders, easels, and a method to attach canvas to the walls. She needed to install a method of cleaning her brushes and dispose of waste paints and petroleum-based products. She also needed to designate a portion of her wardrobe as strictly painting clothing. She hoped that by the last week in September, she was actually applying paint to canvas.
