    Chapter 27 – Mary Southerland

Bette:  Only the people who are on the beach can see us. And there is no one on the beach. Now let’s get these wet suits and towels into the laundry. Yeah, I stripped the bed so we have some more laundry to get going.

Bette headed for the laundry and Tina headed for the kitchen. She put on the coffee and the bacon. She decided to make some hash browns and some scrambled eggs with cheese. Bette came in and buttered eight pieces of bread for toast. She then set the table and put glasses of water and juice at each plate. She put the coffee cups at three of the plates. Angie was now drinking coffee at the end of her meal and seemed to be enjoying it.

The kids came down and joined their moms at the breakfast table.

Tina:  Angie, I cooked some extra bacon this morning. Maybe you guys can have a tomato, lettuce, bacon and cheese sandwiches. There are some chips and some fruit available. Just make sure you feed Mary. I have a feeling she will not have had lunch when she arrives. And help her with her luggage if you are here. If she needs to rest, encourage her to do so. Travel is tiring. You are both about to find out just how tiring it can be.

Angie:  We going to take care of Grandma Mary. She is our guest and we are going to treat her as such.

Bette: We know you will. We are just trying to remind you of the things she might need when she gets here. We know that you haven’t seen her in a couple of months and you might get into a long conversation catching up on each other and forget that she may have some immediate needs which you need to help her with.

Angie:  Yeah, I can see that.

Daniel: I’m really excited about have Grandma Mary here. And she’s going with us to New York?

Bette:  Yes, she is. She wants to help Angie move into her dorm.

Tina:  You guys need to get moving. You do not want to be late.

Angie:  I’m going upstairs and brush my teeth.  Dan, we need to leave in about ten minutes.
