    Chapter 27 – Mary Southerland

    Daniel:  I’ll be ready.

Tina:  You guys have a good day. And low scores!!!

They both hugged their parents and told them bye and headed upstairs.

Bette and Tina had another cup of coffee and allowed their breakfast to settle.

Bette: I may go ahead and dye my hair a silver gray and then let it grow out from there. What do you think?

Tina:  Why do you want to do that?

Bette:  That’s the color it’s going to be eventually. So, if I go ahead and dye it that color, there will be not so much a drastic change as it grows out.

Tina: That might work. I’m going to have to get used to seeing you with gray hair sooner or later. I’m fine with whatever you decided to do. I love your hair and it doesn’t matter what color it is. It’s attached to you and that’s the important part to me.

Bette and Tina’s phone buzzed at the same time.  A text message was coming in.

Bette:  It’s Helena. She has managed to wrangle 5 tickets to Hamilton a week from tomorrow for the family.

Tina:  Yeah, let me see how we can pay for them. Maybe the source will take credit card or we can send a check. I can’t believe she was able to get them that quickly. Oh yeah, New York is three hours behind us. It’s almost 10:00 in New York.

Bette:  Helena says the tickets are paid for and just pick them up at the will call window. Wow… that is a big expense for someone. These tickets are $250 each. And they are good seats.

Tina:  My bets are Helena is, I think, returning the favor of selling our apartment to Marilyn and the suggestion of subdividing Peggy’s apartment so it will be more marketable.  It’s an early performance. The show starts at 7:00. Let’s put that on our calendar. We do not want to be late.

Bette:  Well, that is a nice thought. But I am more than willing to pay for these tickets. We are not exactly paupers you know.

Tina: We will return the favor someday.

Bette:  Well, this is really generous of her and I will speak to her on Friday and see if she will take a check. I would feel better if I paid her for these.
