    Summary:
    The discussion continues.

    Her chest tightening with anxiety, Bette quietly bent down at the knees to place a warming hand on the blonde’s shoulder and say a few words of warm comfort. When it got no response and Tina continued to cry, the brunette took a deep breath and swallowed the huge lump in her throat.

    Did she dare inch closer to her former lover?

    Could she trust herself to be that close to Tina once again and hold herself back?

    Keep her deep feelings for the American at a safe distance?

    Relying on bravery she didn’t know she could muster, Bette’s own body trembled with her next action. With a swirl of emotions twisting within her, she hesitantly wrapped her long right arm around the blonde’s shaking shoulders.

    Tina blindly leaned into the offered support of the brunette. Bette tried her best to calm the blonde and quell her fears and tears. Her voice was soft and its timber low as she tried her best to sooth the distraught blonde. Unknowingly, Tina’s head eventually came to rest on the tall brunette’s strong shoulder as her body came into contact with the brunette’s.

    Bette caressed her shoulders and upper arms, whispering words of encouragement into her ear, trying with all that she had within to convince Tina that Ashley would indeed survive and her health would improve. She hated seeing Tina so distraught like this. All she wanted was to take away the pain that Tina had endured due to Ashley’s medical condition.

    She wanted to kick and berate herself for not acting sooner. Her stubbornness and refusal to directly get involved with Ashley’s treatment had only brought more anguish, harm and pain to both Kennard sisters. Bette knew the sisters deep level of devotion to one another, they would do anything for the other. She squeezed her eyes shut in self-anger as her own tears stung behind her eyes. She wanted to safeguard and be strong for both of them.

    No, wait.

    Not just Tina and herself, but Ashley too.

    Yes, all three of them.

    Ashley deserved that.

    But the aroma of Tina’s perfume, shampoo as well as her natural scent, was having an immense affect on the brunette. She inhaled deeply and realized she was still drawn to Tina like a magnet. She couldn’t help herself. Tina’s pull was that strong, even after all these years. She triggered deep, visceral memories in Bette’s mind and body that she had long ago packed away and buried.

      I’ve loved this story since the first chapter, but this chapter is everything! I love how you built up to the ending of the chapter, them wrestling with their feelings, so well-written. And Tina knows the old Bette is still there.

      Have to say, too, you nailed it in the section where Tina’s emotions over Ashley can’t be contained any longer. Made me tear up.

      Sorry to hear about your family but glad it’s going better.

      Be careful with the hurricane season and take care of yourselves.

      You can feel the emotions and struggles both Tina and Bette experience, so good written
      I hope that this will be a small step in the right direction for both of them, hopefully Bette will not close down and bury her feelings for Tina again and that Tina will be gently and patient with Bette to let her open up and let her see they could be a couple again. Because they just belong together!!!

        Thanks for the words about the family – both of y brothers are ding better & the eldest just celebrated his 83rd BD yesterday!! YAY!!

        Back to Tibette & DOH – Bette’s reactions seem to be the biggest question. But I think TK will guide her along with gentleness & care. Totally agree – they DO belong together.

      • Yes, I’m very happy that the health situations with my brothers have improved! Yes, the time with my family was sweet – especially with the youngest nephews & nieces – they all so cute at these ages!!

        Yes, lots of hope & hopefully Bette can get out of her own way & learn to express herself to Tina again.

      Bette is so stubborn sometimes…and Tina is so pushy but I guess we’ll forgive her given the circumstances. I bet the next scene will be Bette running like a rabbit out of the room hahaha !

      Wounder if U and family were taken care of by a “Dr Bette & her team”?? U seemed to be quite insightful in painting that exchange.

      And of course the “lovers world” of our two ladies 4ever remains. Will b interesting to WHEN they will be able to rediscover that part. . .but FIRST! Ashley needs tending to . .

        TBH, I’ve had more than my fair share of family illnesses down through the years. But somehow we managed to survive & deal with the treatments. So, those experiences provided background info for this novel.

        Yes, Ashley has to begin treatment & that will provide the stage for Tibette to interact more closely, leading to rediscovering each other.
