    Chapter 3 – Lets Make a Deal

Bette and Tina went to the 2nd dealership, check out the car, did a test drive and made their deal. Everything went pretty much as it did at the first dealership but a little quicker since they were purchasing only one car. The mileage was 14,500 for a 2018 Ford Fusion in charcoal grey with the same options as both the other cars.  Bette and Tina were able to purchase it for $13,500 including taxes, tags, documents, and title.

Bette then called Kit and told her that they had purchased a vehicle of Angie but it would be an hour or so before they could take possession. They had errands to do so they may not be able to pick up the car until tomorrow. But they were still planning on having dinner with her at the Planet.

Tina and Bette then headed to the rental place to turn in the SUV. Once that was done, Tina had called for a cab to take her to the dealership they had been at early this morning. Bette received the package of papers and was told that both vehicles were still under their bumper-to-bumper warranty.  Bette and Tina decided to get these vehicles filled with fuel and take one home and try to get the third car.

Bette and Tina agreed to deposit the white gold metallic Fusion into the garage and not even announce themselves to the kids. Tina got in the passenger seat in the ruby red car and they drove away.  Bette had received the call from the second dealership that all the transactions were complete. On the way to pick up the 3rd car, Tina called Kit and gave her a status update that they would be able to get the car to Kit place by 4:30.  Kit indicated that she would delay going to The Planet until later in the evening. She wanted to talk to Bette and Tina instead. Tina indicated that Kit seemed a bit stressed.  Bette made a frown.

Bette:  Well, whatever she’s concerned about, we will work it out. How about calling the kids and telling them that we will not be home for dinner?  We’ll be home about 8:00 or 9:00 at the latest.

Tina:  Your worried about Kit, aren’t you?

    1. Collins,
Isn’t that the way life is? Lots of things going on which requires multi-tasking? My Bette and Tina are on the same page… they have been working at it for more than 20 years. They know what irritates and what soothes the other. They know they have responsibilities for their children. And most of all, they love their choices they have made in life – each other as partners, their professions, and their role as parents. This is a summer of change for these two. New professions, new home and a some what different family structure. The transition from their New York life to a life in California is full and getting Angie ready for Yale is thrown into the mix. Time is limited and what needs to be accomplished is much. And these two women will get it done…
