    Chapter 3 – Lets Make a Deal

Tina:  Get me four copies. After that, why don’t you come over here and review my four choices from the real estate agent suggested?

    Bette:  Oh sure.

Tina:  All of these appear to be within our budget range.  But none of them is what I call perfect. They are all deficient in one way or another.

    Bette:  That’s not good.

    Tina:  Anyway, look at these.

They discussed each one of the top four of Tina’s picks. Bette suggested that Tina call Vivian in the morning and tell her that none of these were acceptable.

Bette:  Tell her to forget about the budget, and bring to us those which have all the required amenities which meets our needs. Our house is out there somewhere and she needs to find it. We are not going to settle for just anything. Oh, and I don’t think we need to look at a house which does not fit our needs.  We have too much to do than to look at houses which we will not buy.

Tina giggled:  Thank you Sweetie.  I feel the same way. We don’t have time this week to do be looking at houses which are not suitable. I think I’ll send her an email tonight so she can get on it first thing in the morning. If she doesn’t have something better by 5 pm tomorrow then we will not be looking at houses on Thursday.

Bette:  T.  I’m tired.  I missed my nap today and I want to go to bed.

Tina:  I wondered when you were going to notice that nap.

Angie:  Oh, that’s better.  I made an 86% correct on that test.  Those braking distances are killing me. Why do you have to know braking distances? It’s not like you have some measuring device in front of your car or something.

Tina: Just memorize them and once you pass the test, you can forget all about them. You just got to pass that test on Friday.  We don’t have time for you take it again.  Without that test, you will not be able to start your driving lessons. And without the driving lessons, you get cannot license. I would hate for you to be the only college freshman who does not have a driver’s license.

Angie:  Oh, I’m going to pass. I’m going to keep studying and keep taking the practice test. Starting tomorrow I am going to take two a day.

Bette:  We will be at the test place at 8:00 am on Friday morning. So, you have about 48 hours to make sure you are ready. This is very doable for you. Just memorize all the distance data and have a good working knowledge of the rest and you will do fine.

Tina:  Angie, why don’t you let Daniel take a look at those distances. Maybe he can give you a key on how to memorize the data. He is good with puzzles and patterns. Maybe he can help.

Angie:  That’s a good idea. I’ll have him look at it first thing in the morning. I think I’m going to bed now.

She then went over to Bette and wrapped her arms around her and kissed her on her check and said goodnight. She then did the same with Tina.  She seemed to hold her parents just a little longer than usual. Daniel came into the dining room and announce he was going to bed. He too hugged both of his moms and they kissed him on his forehead.

Bette then went around checking the doors and turning out the lights. Tina had some bottle water and met the brunette at the bottom of the stairs.

    Bette:  Ready?

    Tina:  Oh yeah.

They walked up the stairs with their arms around each other. They both went through their bedtime routine and joined each other in bed. Bette wrapped her arms around Tina and pulled her close. She kisses her wife tenderly and held her.

Bette: We had a really good day, didn’t we?

Tina:  Yes, we did. Tired Sweetie?

    Bette:  Yes, I am. You?

Tina:  Un hah. We don’t have to get up so early tomorrow. We won’t run again until Thursday.

Bette: Let’s cuddle and sleep. I love you T.

    Tina:  I love you too.

Tina laid her head on Bette’s chest and Bette put her leg over Tina’s thigh and breathed deeply to inhale the fragrance of Tina’s hair and drifted off to sleep.

    1. Collins,
Isn’t that the way life is? Lots of things going on which requires multi-tasking? My Bette and Tina are on the same page… they have been working at it for more than 20 years. They know what irritates and what soothes the other. They know they have responsibilities for their children. And most of all, they love their choices they have made in life – each other as partners, their professions, and their role as parents. This is a summer of change for these two. New professions, new home and a some what different family structure. The transition from their New York life to a life in California is full and getting Angie ready for Yale is thrown into the mix. Time is limited and what needs to be accomplished is much. And these two women will get it done…

      Thank you for reading.
