Chapter 3 – Lets Make a Deal
Angie: There sure is a lot to do to get ready for school.
Bette: And we chose this time to move across the country as well. So, our plate is doubly full.
Tina: But we completed one item on our list today and I really feel good about that.
Bette: So, do I. I believe that I would like some coffee. Would you like to join me? How about you Angie?
Angie: No thanks not tonight. I’m going to do another sample driving test.
Tina: Oh look, our real estate agent has sent some potential homes.
Bette: Why don’t you review them and select the ones you think will best meet our needs. Then maybe we can have our first house tours on Thursday. I’m going to submit some resumes for Daniel to get some appointments for next week. Then I’m going to email my resumes to some people to see if I can get some job interviews next week. Hopefully by the time you guys get back from New York, Daniel will have a school and I have some prospects on a job.
Tina: Are you going to try to see Joyce Wischnia next week?
Bette: I’m going to call Joyce and tell her what’s going on and see if she will represent Paris and possibly Mary. I am going to read through the documents first. And if what Kit said is what I see, then I am going to need to pull Paris aside to talk to her tomorrow night. I’ll give her copies of these documents and send her to see Joyce. I hate doing this, but I feel I have to. The sooner she gets on this, the quicker this part will be resolved.
Tina: I think you are doing the right thing. She needs to know the facts, and the sooner the better. What about Mary?
Bette: I think I will let Paris tell me if she wants me to call her or if she wants to call her. But one of us will need to call her by the end of the week. Paris may want to get advice from Joyce before she does anything. I don’t think there will be any legal conflict with Mary but there may well be a personal one for Paris. I think it depends on if Mary knew Melvin knew she was alive. And I really do not want to be the one to ask her that question. But if Melvin paid for her college, how could she not know?

Lots going on in this chapter.
Glad that Bette and Tina are on the same page in their thinking & goals.
Thank you.
Collins,
Isn’t that the way life is? Lots of things going on which requires multi-tasking? My Bette and Tina are on the same page… they have been working at it for more than 20 years. They know what irritates and what soothes the other. They know they have responsibilities for their children. And most of all, they love their choices they have made in life – each other as partners, their professions, and their role as parents. This is a summer of change for these two. New professions, new home and a some what different family structure. The transition from their New York life to a life in California is full and getting Angie ready for Yale is thrown into the mix. Time is limited and what needs to be accomplished is much. And these two women will get it done…
Thank you for reading.
